Free Roam Tracks?

Post by Haydz192 »

So I was tinkering with the track editor one day, and I though "Hey, why don't I make a free roam track!"
So, I got to work, and so far I have made one track. I made two versions of the track, one with ghosts and one without, so in singleplayer the cities don't seem completely empty :). I also added some little "easter eggs" so that you can jump from rooftop to rooftop and off cliffs into a little hole in the side of a building :D
I think a multiplayer server could be quite popular, with maybe 5 mins each map to explore it.
Your thoughts?

Cheers, Haydz

I made a few maps like that in Canyon that were kind of fun. I hid checkpoints in several areas that when you passed through them the name of the checkpoint appeared on screen so you could "check them off" as you go. Once you found them all you could pass through the finish. I called them "Adventure Maps" because it was more about exploring the "world" and finding checkpoints rather than racing. Younger kids had fun driven these too because you don't have to stay on the roads.

This is really fantastic idea, I love yours Demented :)
I can imagine much fun would be had creating something like this. Maybe I will make a 'tour of the valley' map at some point ;)

I hosted a Freeroam server in TMUF for the BOF team for about 2 years. It was often the most populated server in United. So yeah, there's been much interest for such servers in the past. I'm sure if you made one, people would flock to it.

Could be fun to try those out. Are they on the Exchange? What to search for? :)

I've actually never uploaded a map before but if you'd like I'll send you one and you can see if you like it.

Whitestar said he liked that Adventure Quest "track" so I decided if anyone else wants to give it a go you can download it HERE on TM2 - Mania Exchange.

It's not a "race" it's more about finding the checkpoints and getting to them.
