[TM2]Unable to play Canyons, says key already used [fixed]

Basically, I bought TM2 through http://uk-maniaplanet.gamesplanet.com/ on September 2011, and since then I have formatted my pc quite a few times. Wanting to play the game again, I redownloaded the game and tried to play through ManiaPlanet, however when I enter my game key I get the following error:

Key registration failed.
You have already activated this key.

just login, no key should be asked.

Well that's the problem, I log in with the account I registered TM2 with and the only games I have on there are ShootMania, and when I try to add TM2 I get the problem as described above.

Apparently you have two different accounts, and Canyon is registered for a different one.
Are you absolutely sure you did not create a new ManiaPlanet account for ShootMania (and forgot your actual TM2 account)?

Did you purchase a Canyon key that should be valid for unlimited time?
(Background for this question: there were some 1-year-limited keys, e.g. with Intel CPU).

I did get the code through buying an Intel CPU, but after a bit of Googling I came across this thread which differs from mine, on his order email it is listed as "TrackMania² Canyon - 1 Year" whereas mine is only listed as "TrackMania² Canyon". I bought a second copy of the game for my brother, so I think that's the second account you mention.

I'm fairly certain I'm trying to login to the correct account, I did make a few accounts before registering TM2 (for TrackMania Nations) but the account I'm certain I first registered TM2 on (niall_) was made the same day I redeemed the TM2 code.

It may very well be that it was only a 1 year code but I can't see anything in my emails to suggest that, and the card with the redeem code is long since gone.

Ah, apologies. I'm fairly certain the only account I've used for paid games (so TM Forever accounts excluded) was "niall_", which on that website scores is here, and you can see my TM2 and Shootmania scores on there.

Since you mentioned it I'm sure the key I received with my Intel CPU was in fact a 1 year key, I just don't recall ever seeing anything like that in the fine print. Oh well, thanks for the help!
