PGW2013 Event: ESWC TrackMania² Stadium Finals

Post by TMarc »

Since the other topic with Hylis Speech is already very big, I chose to put the finals movie here now.

Original video stream: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x16oqu ... videogames

Presenter (Olivier Morin):
Yes! TrackMania² on this stage for the great final!
Now I propose... [Note: to Hylis who also present] come with me to the light.
Let's welcome the first two candidates for this great final.
We have Germany and Norway represented.
Applause for TaLa and Bergie!
[Talks to Hylis] I let you welcome them.
It is a pleasure to have them on this stage.
There is a little specialty and a crazy thing.
Listen.
It's the birthday of TaLa. It's his birthday. All the best.

Tala:
Thank you.

Presenter:
I think we can wish him a nice birthday all together.
[Sings with the audience] Happy birthday to you...
Applause!

Imagine the pressure, to start, it is his first stage, he is the outsider of this tournament.
He has never put a foot yet on this stage.
A few words TaLa.
You must be proud and very happy to be here for your first final at the ESWC.

TaLa:
Yeah, I'm very proud, because it's my first offline event, and to be here it's great.

Presenter:
Of course he is very proud, this is the first time he is participating to a event outside of the internet.
He comes from nowhere, he has challenged the best, and we find him back here. Applause for TaLa!
Germany well represented!

Bergie! Bergie has one champion title already on his shoulders, world champion 2010,
he is back on stage and he feels like to conquer this title one more time,
on this playground he has owned.
[speaks in English, that's why it repeats]
Bergie, you must be very happy as well to be on that stage.
You have a world title on your shoulders, and now you're ready to fight for a new one.

Bergie:
Well, everyone doubted I will get to the finals, so I think I proved everyone wrong,
and I'm ready to do my best and I hope it will bring me another title.

Presenter: [translates Bergies answer]
Applause for Bergie!
Now it's done for the first two. With the next two, there is also a very very big level.
There is one Canadian you will certainly know, I'm sure, and a player from the Netherlands.
Let's applause very loud.
CarlJr and Koenz.
Applause!
CarlJr and Koenz.
Now CarlJr, we can speak French since you're Canadian?

CarlJr:
yes

Presenter:
You perhaps have seen him already on stage. He already has been here. When was this in fact?

CarlJr:
Last year, I was 3rd.

Presenter: [tries Canadian slang]
I was 3rd last year. He was brilliant!
Now tell me, you do you feel, now that you are qualified, first in the winner bracket, you did zero faults!

CarlJr:
Well, it is a mix between stress and excitement, I have fun!

Presenter: [repeats his answer]
Big applause for CarlJr!
He has appetite to get this title. I even hear he had a big gap of points behind him on the final qualifications.
Certainly he wants to fight.
Koenz.
You must be as well very proud to be on that stage at our opponents.
How do you feel before that match?

Koenz:
How do I feel? Well, I never expected to stand here actually, I'm a bit nervous, but let's make the best out of it, right?

Presenter: [translates Koenzs answer]
Cheers for Koenz!

Well. Gentlement, I let you now return to your places. You can play, guys! You can go to your seats.

Florent, honestly, is this final not a dream? Did you notice the level we have on this stage?

Hylis:
This is a level which is unbelievable.
Since it is the same gameplay since years, we know the champions, they have raised the level,
and we still manage to get outsiders like TaLa.

Presenter:
Unbelievable!

Hylis:
CarlJr has an enormous level. A little touch for CarlJr, I have to tell it, since I'm also from Quebec.
And, well, that's it.

Presenter:
For Koenz as well it is his first appearance on stage, I did not tell it before, but for them it is crazy!
There is Pierre-Luc who will coment this match with us.
Pierre-Luc, sincerely, would you manage to predict anything? Is it CarlJr or not?

Commentator (Pierre-Luc):
Sincerly, yes. Hi there!
Sincerly, yes, I think there is a big big favorite today, it is CarlJr.
Then there is Bergie with his big experience in such competitions, he was finalist in 2010, in DisneyLand Paris,
so it is his come-back.
And we have the two new youngsters, TaLa and Koenz.
TaLa did a great tournament, he was fighting very good games, he really deserves it, and I think he can challenge the two others.

Presenter:
There can big surprises when players arrive from the internet, everything can be turned, Bergie already has a world champion title, there is strength!
[Speaks to the audience]
I count on you to make noise!
TrackMania is starting now, let's go!

[dancers on stage]

Thank you ladies!
I just watched the players getting ready, talking to each other,
and Bergie told that when he won in 2010, there were no dancers.

Commentator:
Obviously this takes concentration. One has to keep his mind with the match.

Presenter:
Well then he will be happy, there is a nice spectacle and a show waiting for us, we told you, the match.
Is the ending really open? Because we already told you, CarlJr has put quite a distance in points to his adversaries, he was something like 50 points ahead.

Commentator:
After this tournament he is clearly on top of the others. Indeed he took 50 points ahead of his adversaries, he has atomized the conccurents during those 2 days of competition.
Therefore I think it will be very difficult for his adversaries to challenge him today.

Presenter:
One specialty, we told it already, there is no French in this final.
But you explained me there is such a level. In the past year there was an explosion of players who were able to reach perfection, and it was very close.

Commentator:
Indeed, this year the level was insane. I have never seen such a level since 2008. This was in San Jose in USA, the victory of the Swedish Frostbeule to that time.
But now, within the 16 players, 10 of them could have easily been world champion.
Great great level. A big number of the favorites have been pushed out.
And now we have to little newbies, this is the surprise this week-end.

Presenter:
This will also be the surprise for them, we will see how they will psychologically stand on this stage.
And we will see if CarlJr will be able to confirm, because we know that if you get here as favorite, it gets complicated. One wins each run, gets points, and at 120 points there is a psychological barrier.

Commentator:
Yes, indeed, this is it. When one gains the state of finalist, is is sufficient to have one run first.
This is like a matchball in tennis, you don't get this matchball, you don't win.

Presenter:
This is what we could see in the qualification phase on this big stage.
It is full of players who got finalists but who never managed to cross the line first,
this creates exceptional situations, and also dramatic situations for some.
All our French players who are not there. We think very strongly of them.

Now let's go with this match. Are the players ready?

Commentator:
It's good, the warmup is finished, we can start fighting now.

Presenter:
Applause for the players, the 4 on this stage, let's go!
The final of TrackMania is now!

Commentator:
We will start with "Unexpected" which is the fasted track.
CarlJr has got 10 bonus points for being first qualified player.
There is not much space to drive, the track is very narrow.

[skipping the race commentation]

1. run: Bergie wins, second is CarlJr.
2. run: CarlJr wins
3. run: CarlJr wins again
4. run: Koenz wins before TaLa (both CarlJr and Bergie crashed in the sides)
5. run: CarlJr wins

Now a new map: CoPilot. Many curves.
1. run: TaLa before Koenz, Bergie and CalrJr is last
2. run: CalrJr wins with a time 4/10th of a second from world record
3. run: TaLa
4. run: CarlJr dominates again
5. run: Bergie wins after failures of all the others

After 2 tracks: clear domination by CarlJr.

Next track is: CranBerry
1. run: CarlJr, 1:02:28
2. run: TaLa, 1:02:22
3. run: Koenz
4. run: CarlJr, 1:02:17
5. run: Koenz

4th track: Insane, a very fast track
1. run: Koenz
2. run: CarlJr wins and he is now unreachable  he is world champion
3. run: TaLa
4. run: Koenz
5. run: Bergie

5th track: CherryBerry
1. run: Bergie
2. run: TaLa wins and is now 2nd world champion
3. run: Bergie
4. run: Koenz wins and is 3rd world champion

Commentator:
Excellent run. Excellent match. We could watch the Canadian CarlJr, who has now the experience of big events, this young player from Quebec who earns the title of world champion after such an exemplary domination, a really perfect domination during the whole week-end. He dominated all his games.
TaLa, the surprise of the week-end, excellent competition, we did'nt know him that good, he came from many competitions on the internet, very well done by this player.
And koenz who gets the bronze medal.

Presenter:
What a match we just had. Guys, come on stage! Come with me, Bergie, TaLa, CarlJr, come and join me!
What a run we had, what champions we have!
Come!
Shake hands together guys!
This was a great final, they are all very happy!
This is a community which is weleded together, this is great!
Well, I'll start with Bergie. Bergie, come here.
Let's start with the one who is the 4th, the champion of 2010, you did'nt make it this time.
We feel that the level was very high, even if at the end you seemed to wake up a little bit to late.

Bergie:
To be honest I played really bad for the whole match until the end.
Then at the end I saw an opportunity to maybe get 2nd, I thought I would get third in the end.
But it wasn't my day, congrats to those!

Presenter:
Bergie, 4th of this cup, big applause please!

Presenter interviews Koenz:
You finished third in that final, you very close to the 2nd place, I think you're still very happy to be on the podium.

Koenz:
Well yeah, actually I'm fairly happy, since I'm in the top 3. I didn't came for nothing. But... It's my first big event, and an international event. So I'm really happy with the result and it was before the match quite obvious actually that CarlJr would have won, so really big, he did a great job. I'm happy about the 3rd place, really.
[Presenter translates]
Big applause for Koenz, bronze medal!

Presenter interviews TaLa:
What a nice birthday, to be on this stage, finish 2nd.
You also come from nowhere and we find you on the second step. You must be extremely happy. How do you feel?

TaLa:
Yeah, it's great I guess.

Presenter:
You must be very happy.

TaLa:
Of course, I guess.

Presenter:
Thunder like applause for TaLa!!!
No, to end, the Canadian, who finishes on the highest step.
You must be extremely happy, CarlJr,

CarlJr:
I am extremely happy as you alreday said. My emotions are going completely crazy. Tabarnak.

Presenter:
Thats great!
Player of the team Dignitas, what can you tell?
You know there were plenty fans waiting for you, a big audience only there because of you, anything you want to say to them?

CarlJr:
I love you!

Presenter:
Applause for CarlJr !!!
I'll bring you now in the right order for the podium.

I'll inivite one more time Florent Castelnérac on stage, the flags, ah, no, we have an official, that's Julien Brochet, two officials of the ESWC.
Applause please! Come here to give the checks to the winners.

Julien:
"We were cramped until the end, felicitations to them. They held us in suspense. It took very long but it was worth it.
Bravo to Carl, who has already impressed us last year with his youth and his great talents, and one year later he confirms, he deserves this title. Bravo!"

Presenter:
16 years only, CarlJr, 16 years! I let you now give the checks to those young players.
[To the audience] Please stay one more moment in the hall, we'll take a picture of this magic moment.
It is incredible, 2 unknown players are finalists.
I'd like to have some music, some emotion, to celebrate with the players.
And here is the cup!
CarlJr, World Champion!
Applause!
Congratulations! Let's take a nice picture with all of you!
Thank you all!

Nice to see others having fun, but it's a criminal offence that ESWC haven't bothered to pay FrostBeule his winnings ($13,000) after he won the EWSC Grand Final in 2008; regardless of bankruptcy claims, different owners, whatever, why has everyone else got their prize money whilst he's been left penniless? :?

It's very sad that he's been marginalised; he's a nice guy, but because he's not as famous as Carl Jr. or the others, he has been ignored. His boycott probably won't make a difference, but it's high time someone took a stand against them as it's ridiculous. You can see from this video that he is justifiably pissed off about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIJWZ9BvmIw
