Split-screen time attack mode?

Post by 1awesomeguy »

Before people get angry at me, I did search and was only able to find 2 year old threads about this (although I found several).

Are there any plan to add other modes for split-screen multiplayer? Time attack is by far the mode I have the most fun with. I was very disappointed to find it missing from split-screen.

I remember those old threads. I don't quite agree with them or understand (when I'm having a friend over to play split screen, I like to do something more than a mode that to me amounts to several people playing solo mode at the same time), but I wonder if it's possible to use maniascript to make custom modes for splitscreen. Somebody could make a time attack mode. If it's not possible to use maniascript for splitscreen... why not? Seriously, if custom modes for splitscreen aren't possible that's an important question.

In the meantime, you can try the turn-based "hotseat" modes. They're similar to time attack (although better in my opinion :P). You don't get to play against your opponent in real time but in time attack everybody's runs are completely independent anyway, so IMHO it doesn't matter very much.

I don't get your logic here. You are suggesting split-screen time attack is bad because it is several people playing solo at the same time and then recommend the mode that is several people playing solo at different times...? :D Hot seat can be fun, but with four players, each person needs to spend three times as much time waiting than they do playing.

Some people may not want to do split-screen time attack and I understand that, but having it as an option in the game, makes sense to me. Why it is not included in the game, makes absolutely zero sense.

I agree. More split screen game modes would be fun. Why not?
I'd like to see Nadeo (or someone) do a Split Screen "Capture the Flag" mode.

I'm not recommending it any more than I'm recommending split-screen time attack, only trying to help find an alternative in the meantime. The reason I like it better is twofold -- you can play it against yourself, -- and as a writer I like the increased suspense :P. I'm not expecting anybody else to be like me though. My opinions are usually odd.
I'm glad you like my work though.

Hey, the ways that I like to play TM seems odd to a lot of people too, but what makes TM so cool is that there are many different ways for people to enjoy the game. None really right or wrong. (I myself seldom play online but rather prefer to build semi-long tracks and race against my own replays. To me it's a perfectly balanced challenge.)
