Need a bit of help with the Airship
Posted: 27 Apr 2014, 05:51
So I'm trying to make my own version of the airship, and I'm largely done, but I've run into an issue. I want to paint the top and bottom of the blimp with an fixed-width line running along the spine. Why? Well, besides aesthetics, some of my maps involve running along the topmost spine of an airship, and the line would act as a roadguide. I realize my main problem, however, is that its not exactly clear where the exact ark for the spine lies within the texture map, and I'm largely flying blind when trying to paint it on. The original TM2 texture and pretty much every modded blimp skin I've ever found haven't been much help (not that there is much to find, google is pretty useless in this matter) since they all rely on a solid color rather than any linework.

If anyone wants to try working on this, I can also include the xcf / psd file with all the layers attached. Or, if someone has or can provide a guide somewhere, please do! I don't really have any patience to go any further and trial and error my way to victory without a guide in any case, so have at it.

Notice how this is pretty close to how I want it, but it doesn't look even and tapers at the ends.

This is what I want it to end up looking like, but with a much cleaner and actually accurate line. This was my second attempt to guess the borders. The poorly shopped on red line you see represents where the ideal location would be in this case.
