Hi.
I wanted to install the shootmania elite demo, install gotten from here: http://maniaplanet.com/shootmania/elite
Once download I noticed that this was just a full Maniaplanet install. I already own all Trackmania² games, so I already have MP installed.
Therefor I installed to /program_files/maniaplanet_sm/.. to not interfere with the install of Mp I already had.
The whole thing installed, but just can't be launched, so I uninstalled it again from /program_files/maniaplanet_sm/
However now my original maniaplanet install (/program_files/maniaplanet/) was back at the pre-MP3 version and everything is gone. Canyon, Stadium, Valley - all uninstalled aswell.
This is pretty stupid since I now lost all my files and tracks...
So how is there a point in having a demo that doesn't work ??
The thing is, even, that I still had the data for shootmania storm on my PC because I participated in the beta (2 years ago, I believe), but when I launched these just asked for keys.
So how should I then install the shootmania elite demo ?
I have no maniaplanet installed now anymore on my pc and everything is gone (except for the stuff I uploaded @ mania-exchange). So i might say that I'm actually pissed at nadeo atm.

How to: Shootmania demo?
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world monocular.
Re: How to: Shootmania demo?
Sad to hear this
The thing is: you installed perhaps a different base directory, but the program files and user files were at the same directory (you should have changed the paths later in the game configurator, before uninstalling).
However your ManiaPlanet account is still there and active with the keys for the games you had purchased already.
I hope you still have the keys and the proof of purchase, and you remember both your login and your password.
Then please install ManiaPlanet (e.g. take it from the player page), and at the first start, indicate that you already have an account. Enter login, password, and then it should show what you had before.
Eventually the game will download additional stuff for the stations that are not already automatically filled with local content.
Unfortunately this won't restore any local files like maps, replays, skins, you had in the user files.

Re: How to: Shootmania demo?
Well then they really need a different way for the shootmania demo to be installed, for players who already have maniaplanet installed. Not that the demo version actually works, since clicking play on the launcher does nothing, which makes me wonder why there's a page for a demo that doesn't work..

Re: How to: Shootmania demo?
Sorry to hear about your files and tracks
Players having bought a maniaplanet title should have a demo access to titles not purchased. So you should see the Elite station when you buy a TM² title. You didn't see the Elite station, did you?
Plus to play on the demo, you have to click on "multiplayer" and then select the server (matchmaking or not) that you want to join.
