[TM2] Game refuses to load/Crashes after mania planet splash

When trying to launch either Canyon or Stadium, the game loads the Mania Planet splash screen, then crashes/disappears. I've tried verifying on steam, no files are corrupt. I don't have any patch popups or anything either. However, Valley loads just fine and I'm able to play fine too.

I've tried safe mode, doesn't fix anything. I've tried reinstalling, doesn't fix anything. I've tried using Maniaplanet outside of steam, still doesn't fix anything. Steam forums also have a LOT of reports of the shit not working, with no dev response either. Has anyone been able to fix this yet? I've exhausted my search, nothing comes up on google for anything more recent than 2012 and the steam community hub is empty for results.

There can be many issues.

Did you try to configure the game first before launching it?
Also try to use windowed mode, to see if there is no message popup in the background.

First check if firewall and antivirus are not blocking ManiaPlanet by error.
Also make sure Internet Explorer has default settings and is not in offline mode.

And last for now, do not run xFire, Mumble, Hamachi or other network intensive applications when starting ManiaPlanet.

I originally tried to launch the game with the same settings that I had launched it previously. I then reconfigured it to run in windowed mode, then lowered the settings, then attempted "safe mode" in compatibility options. None of them allow the game to load. There is no error message/crash, it simply closes the .exe after the splash screen pops up for maybe 500ms/half a second.


Edit: I disabled Xfire overlay, doesn't seem to help. I disabled Raptr, didn't seem to help. I closed Xfire and Raptr both, and the game seemed to launch. However steam overlay causes it to crash as well. After disabling steam overlay, it loads to the main menu.



Running a 7950B on CCC version 14.4 WHQL if anyone from the coding team gets this and cares to trouble shoot. No overlays seem to work, not even Fraps/Playclaws overlays. Very disappointing.
