ShootMania - How active this game REALLY is.

Post by novationx »

FRENCH VERSION HERE

Hi,
Lets take a closer look at the player-numbers of this awesome game (no sarcasme, I love this game).
All numbers are backed-up by my screenshots so its 100% true.

WARNING: SHOCKING CONTENT BELOW :!:

NUMBERS GIVEN BY NADEO:

12 901 Players in the last 24hours. ( Dont forget this is for all NADEO games, not just ShootMania.)

+- 500 000 World Wide Registrations

SOURCE: Ingame

As you can see it looks like quite a lot. Somehow it creates the illusion this game is really active, but is it really? Keep reading.

THE REAL NUMBERS:

SOME STEAM NUMBERS:

http://www.imgdumper.nl/uploads8/540dbd ... stats2.PNG
As you can see, according to steam, the playerbase is smaller since the Universal Demo.
Werent we promised a bigger playerbase with this Univeral Demo, NADEO?

PUBLIC GAMING

Weekday - 12:00
+- 65players (based on 3 different sources).
As you can see playing a decent match at this time is almost impossible.
Official modes impossible to play: Joust, Royal, Battle, Heroes
Elite with its 17 players on MM can be played. However GOLD players have to join the empty gold-server or completely stomp players on the other matchmaking servers.
Obstacle can be played too, but then again... Obstacle is a solo-mode.

SHOCKING: Not one single custom title has 1 player playing.

Weekday - 20:00
250-300 Players
Most active modes: Siege, Elite & Obstacle.

SHOCKING: 2Players playing a custom title. 50 if you include Obstacle.

PRIVATE GAMING / CUPS
ESL
Elite Cups (LAST 10 CUPS all after the Universal Demo)
--> An average of 13teams per cup.
We used to have RO128 brackets because we had +64 teams.

ESL GO4SM = Cancelled (not enough teams)
ESL.FR = Cancelled (not enough teams)

Joust Cups
ESL.JOUST = Cancelled (lack of players)

LeetGamerZ Elite( LAST 5 CUPS all after the Universal Demo )
--> An average of 13 teams per cup.

ZOTAC Joust
Cancelled (lack of players)
We used to have RO128 because we had 64+ players.

Other Cups
Other cups are not even worth mentioning because they have even lower numbers. Except for the CES cup, which did a really good job! I couldnt find any screenshots, so sorry for that.
I also heard a lot of good things about the smurfcups, but it wont change any of the other numbers.

NADEO :) come on... please. I know you guys love gaming as much as I do... But really... Listen to the feedback on the forums. Clearly the demo & other stuff you did in the past did not have the desired effect.

How do you measure the success of the game? "Yes! Yes! we sold 500 000 copies!!"??
Well, I dont share that same happy feeling.

Btw, not a single excuse will make these stats acceptable. Please improve your game ASAP :)

PS: The shown numbers are not just gamers. It also includes mappers, modders etc. Which isnt a good thing.

Unfortunately, it's the truth.

The question arises:
Why do we lose so many players???
Actually, there is no need to ask that because novationx and other community guys pointed it out in their threads (No long term motivation, no significant rewards for playing regulary, an e-Sports mode which could be heavily improved etc.). That doesn't mean that I absolutely agree with all their ideas & suggestions nor that they should be instantly implemented by Nadeo. Just take them into account. :)

:/

My big hope is in the power-up, sounds very promising - although that might not be a solution for all issues.
Furthermore, I believe in Hylis and Nadeo. The more worse the past was, the better will be the future.

Soprah

Well since 20/7 It seems like NADEO fell of the world. Its like they paused their game & they took a 7week holiday. Recent activity on the forums shows some new light on the end of this dark & silent tunnel. They need to share with us what the f is up & what they are doing... Not for me... but for everybody & the community. The silence is making players leave & quit... Players arent happy with the game & there is absolutely no sign of improvement. ( Because NADEO doesnt communicate. )

@SMURF: We ( CPLAY ) hosted the 2nd biggest online cup of 2K13 & some other cups as well. Im really trying.
I think we gave away 10 ShootMania Full Game Keys on our FB and10 Full access demo accounts (costed me 50K planets )... We launch projects as community fragmovies... Im here on the forums giving feedback... We are sending teams to lans... Its just, its not good enough! ( because of the game, not because of the effort made by the community.)

Actually there are quite some players. 12000 is quite a solid number already and Haagse showed some statistics of a nice amount of players for a cup.

But there is one issue: All the players are spread over a lot of different titles and different server lists. So it is difficult to find the players and impossible to see the "mass" playing.
We need a united place, so that people get to know each other and see each others' events and all the cups that are being hosted!!

The 12 000 is also for TM, Valley & Canyon. Dont forget that^^
And currently not a single player is playing a custom title. (screenshot)

But I agree... If we cant have more players, then we should at least unite them.

For the less forum activity of nadeo it may have a few reasons:
- They are working on something big and are relatively busy now
- They came back of vacation (I assume the vacation are a bit longer for game developers, but I am not sure) and have to discuss things after their arrival.
- As Hylis already said a couple times, they are tired of the endless discussions with negative people - which I can personally understand - although I can understand the other side as well that they become mad because they see their game ''dying''. However, it is no excuse for having bad manners.

I cri everytiem.

On a more serious note:
This is really sad news especially considering that most players that are still playing are only here for the eswc and will leave the game after this event.
Prepare to have even more empty servers than you already have and prepare to have a dead game by the end of november if you don't start listening to the community which, if I may remind you, is the main part in a COMMUNITY-shooter. You (Nadeo) seem to have forgotten what this game was about once.
Esports and the elite title were the main focus back in the alpha and for most of the beta stages. This was even announced by Hylis. You told us that you want to create an esports core game which is not for the everyday casual gamer. By mixing this up you lost players from both the core and the casual side.

Not gonna write up more as it gets ignored once again anyways. If Nadeo and its employees are finally ready to listen to the community and start to change things, Me and many others would be gladly willing to help.

This thread is bad-manner-free^^
And if its negative then its because of them. All screenshots are from their game. I didnt fabricate any of my own conclusions
And if they choose to ignore this post because its negative... then so be it. I already saw 4 DEVS read it so they got the message.

I also post this, not to be negative...but to finally open their eyes & with the hope that they will finally try something different. I have the right so say stuff like that without being rude/offensive or bad-mannered, havent I?

Apperantly things got better after the release of the universal demo. This makes me wonder how much worse it was before the demo :/

You got it wrong, it's my fault ^^
I meant that sometimes guys are negative when it comes to any critical thread about Nadeo or the game, not you.

Sorry for not expressing clearly
