Where are my game files?

Post by MeKillYee »

Where are my game files for Shootmania?

c:\program files\maniaplanet seems to be where they would be, of course along with other stuff from Maniaplanet and Trackmania. But C:\Program Files\ManiaPlanet\Packs\ManiaPlanet.zip\Shootmania seems to be the only place labelled Shootmania, and it seems to only have one folder called Media. which goes to ShootMania/Media/Texture/Image and end with a hue.tga file. There are two .pak files which I don't know how to open. There's a lot of DLL's in the main folder, is that everything? The entire Maniaplanet folder is only 107 MB, and I thought Shootmania was over 1 GB. My documents\Maniaplanet is only 650 MB.

The reason I ask is that I was wanting to replace the music that plays during gameplay with custom stuff I've downloaded. I figured I could move the original files somewhere else and rename mine to the same name as the originals and it would work, right? And it also need to be .ogg?

UPDATE: I found C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ManiaPlanet\PacksCache\SMStorm_music.zip, which seemed to have them. Removing them and adding my own OGG files with the same names just made Maniaplanet update Shootmania after I clicked Play, and updated those files to the originals. Removing Updater.exe in the Maniaplanet program files folder just makes it update and download the file and then error after restarting, so I just put it all back.

Anyone have any ideas?

I know I could just play it in the background, but I thought it would be cool to do that. :D

C:\ProgramData\Maniaplanet (hidden folder). And you can't replace any files anyway, everything is checked and updated on launch.

Hello,

Indeed those files are made to be protected against any changes.

But you absolutely can play custom music, using the folder "MyDocs/ManiaPlanet/Media/Musics/".

Hope this helps ;) .

Oh ok, thanks!

How do I get it to play that instead of the normal music? Does it only play that or does it also play it with the normal music?

And does it have to be OGG?

You can use own music in OGG format in your own maps and also on your own server.

But you can't use your own music in game while playing on other's servers, because those use either default or their own music.
Then you would defitnitely need to switch off the music in game, and use a external player software.

I put an OGG file in "MyDocs/ManiaPlanet/Media/Musics/", and it plays it like the normal music, along with the normal music, like it's part of the playlist. That works!

Thanks!
