[Mode] Relay Mode

Hi All,

Jsut wondering if the Relay style mod can be put in as a game type for the multi servers? Same workings as the "des bois" relay server would be fine ;)

Would jsut like to see this make it in as a solid option, then we can start early with the team relay competitions ^^

The des Bois team already made a competition with their mod... Not sure if it really suits to competitions, but it's great to play, at least for fun.

I would be glad to see it included in TM2, but such kind of racing needs at least 10-15 people on the server to be fully enjoyable (and 30 is even better). It could be a pity if its public release makes lots of similar servers where there are only 2 or 3 drivers. On the other hand, we can expect players to feel the interest to gather on one server and do it.

It could be interesting to associate the des Bois to this debate... I tell them.

Nice Romain, thanks for posting that...

I know for sure i would love to host some leagues in relay mode, you cannot get much more of a pure teamplay mode (allthough there are other ways).

If this goes through into the game i'm pretty sure ET will pick up on the relay style races, Or least i will suggest that we do ...

Would just love to have this as a feature, i have allways wanted it and never been able to code it, there are some attempts to port such a race style into Xaseco on TM-Forum at the moment, but to have it regardless of server controller would be awesome :D

Relay racing is fun, as are other styles such as knockout. I would think maybe even if this style of mode is not included, that there is still potential via maniascript.
I could be wrong (and I often am) that in TMUF both maniacup and maniateam were created using a prototype of maniascript ? So maniascipt will hopefully have the ability to define and control some root level gameplay paramters so many new modes could be created ?

We do!! :mrgreen:
I also suggested some other things in german section to extend the game by more modes, which are interesting for leagues. Like teammode for multiple teams ;)

You are wrong : both are standard server scripts + manialinks site.

maniascript will very probably permit to do more things than actual xmlrpc based scripts, it seems that these are script sent to dedicated and/or client which then are executed directly on dedicated and client. But none can say more (except nadeo) until we see how it looks, and the api.

I am currently adding multi team modes in Fast : TeamRelay (with real added run times, not approximate script times), TeamRounds, and TeamLaps. I made a beta test of relay race yesterday (with arkone and gued), some cosmetical things are still lacking.
I tried to handle many different configurations cases, but if you think about a specific way to count rounds points, round scores, and map scores, tell me : i will add features if not already supported.
All those modes should be ok in less than 1 week, so future competition can eventually use some of them. ;)
