Hi, I'm a linux user and I would like to suggest an OpenGL port of the game, because directX only runs on windows and has no port (wse) for other systems, that way mac and linux users would benefit from the game without having to pay $500 for a bad coded operating system
Running Trackmania Forever on linux the framerate drop is almost 10 fps (in my case from 29 on windows, now I get 19 on linux, on small maps, if it's an rpg map then the game freezes) because wine has to get the directX command, convert to openGL and then tell the driver to render it.
I heard nVidia supports openGL before directX, it must mean something
[compatibility] OpenGL & Linux

Keep your open-source and yuppie-source hands of meh games... Last thing we need is pretentious kiddies wearing white earbuds trolling all the servers telling us all how inferior we are.
I use windows because I game and it causes me the least amount of grief. I went through a linux phase -- we all do, it can't be helped. I thought, why can't the rest of the world think like I do -- a free system comprised of code derived from thousands of different authors, with hundreds of versions of any given software each with their own security holes...
Without inciting an OS flame war, all I can say is it comes down to a matter of support... why go through 3 times the effort to create a game that can go after that elusive 5% Mac market, or that less than 1% linux user market...

The market available just isn't worth the hassle it would take.
I use Linux for work because I do a lot of coding (I'm doing a PhD in Particle Physics, but we have to write a lot of code for reconstruction etc). I use Windows on my machine at home though, that's the tool you need for gaming, like Linux is what I need for work.
