Hi guys,
I've been searching all over but I can't seem to find the answer so I thought I just ask it here.
I have a few tracks made with custom made signs (viewtopic.php?f=265&t=4462). Now I know that in order to have these signs working on my server I need to make locator files, so far no problem. But what are the next steps??
Here's how far I have come:
- Downloaded the new signs on my computer.
- In the editor I have painted the blocks with the new signs.
- I have made .loc files and put the weblocation of the .dds files (one .loc file for each sign) in the .loc file.
And that's where I'm stuck, what are the next steps to do so that everyone can see them???
I'm using a payserver from nc1.eu fyi.
How to exactly use locators?

Make sure to save the map after you added the locators and it should work.
Whenever you save a map, for every (non-title) sign you use the game will look in the filesystem for an equivalently named .loc file (same filename with .loc appended), which should contain just the url. If it finds this, it will automatically save the reference to the sign's dependency in the map file by copying the url inside that loc file.

Thanx!
Now does anyone know an easy to use webhost for the files? I wanted to use dropbox but apparently you can't place public files anymore if you're a new user

Re: How to exactly use locators?
There are several options out there, and probably u want to google free file hosting with hotlinking. Take a good watch on the data limits provided. For example: If u use 1 sign of 50kb, and the map is added to a server where 100 players play, it would create 100x50kb traffic. multiply that by the number of signs u use in 1 map ...
If you are gonna use a lot of signs, multiple maps etc - i would advise to look for paid hosting with higher traffic limits or unlimited traffic.
