About the weight of objects

Hi all,

I've been thinking about a new tool ;)
I would like to make something that could certainly help mappers.
A little thing that would tell us how much space remains to use embedable objetcs once we have already choose some for a map.
But for that I need to know the weight of each embedable objects, and I don't know how to do with those that are in a .Pack.gbx file.
I think I could ask to objects builders what is the weight of their objects (when in a Pack), but will they be able to answer ?
Is there any solution for that ?

thanks =)
I hope too !!
I know it should take me a very long time to get icon of objects,
but I'm sure it will be usefull ;)
but I really need to know the weight of each object ...
and with those .Pack.gbx .. I'm not sure it will be possible

maybe this is something NADEO should include by default in the map editor so you dont have to do it :p

"please note you can only have x kb's of custom items in your map."
" Usage : 27kbs "
" 133kbs remaining"

-Option in editor to hide objects that are not embedded so we can easily find them and eliminate them if we overstepped limit.
-Gui(plugin) that will display all embedded objects instances and their total and individual weight.
-Different folder color for objects that are not part of the title pack.
-All experimental booleans to have check box "save as default" so we will be able to choose its default value when each new map is started.

Yeah indeed. What's the current limit anyways? 512KB ? Sounds like 1990's to me :D

I think they included such a low limit to avoid troll maps or smth like that? So the maps we play actually look like the game they released etc etc, no? Dunno =)

Maybe they prefer 56k connections on their servers. ^^

Martelprod gave me a solution in pm :
put on a map objects wich I know the weight and stay un little bit under the maximum of 307.2 ko
then when adding objects from a Pack.gbx, when saving the map, the game will tell what is the total weight of objects on the map, there is then only a subtaction to do ...

the idea is good, but it's going to take me a very long time to check all of them

any other idea ?
