old TP from MP3 dont work under MP4

Post by Flighthigh »

I have two questions:

1. Work my old Titlepack from MP3 under MP4? I here from Member that they have problemes with the old Pack.
and
2. If i want to Edit the old Titlepack from MP3 in MP4 i get the Message: Couln't open file (There i miss the german translation). Isnt it possible that i can make a Update under MP4?

Yes. There are no changes to Maniacredited Packages itself. Only the content (ManiaScript, maps, mods) can lead to problems / incompatibilities.
To publish the Title Pack in MP4, it must now be configured in the new Maniaplanet 4 Player Page.

You have to move your project files to a different folder:

So there's a new paradigm when editing titlepacks.

When editing a pack a separate root directory is used,
(that was in order to solve the issue with mixed files from the user directory "Maniaplanet" and the files actually copied into the titlepack)

So you have to move the title files (ManiaPlanetTitle.xml, logos.png, ... )
from packs/title@login/ -> WorkTitles/title@login/
AND also the maps to WorkTitles/title@login/Maps , the scripts to WorkTitles/title@login/scripts and so on.

Now when you enter the title in "editon mode" (either from the options menu "edit packs" or by running the game with "/testtitle=title@login" on the command line)
The title is loaded from that subdirectory and the files from the root user directory are not displayed. when you save a file (say a new map), it will be saved to this title directory. and so on.
Your ManiaPlanetTitle.xml will be converted to version 4 layout. But everything works like before.
With one exception: You can no longer set medals for the campaign. To do this and support skill points and official times, the title pack has to be created with the Title Maker Title (it may possible without, but configuring the ManiaPlanetTitle.xml for it doesn't look trivial).

Thank you for this Infos.

I made it and it goes on. But at the End there are two Problems.

1. After the rework to MP4 i cant open the TP with the Message: I have no assed to Trackmania2 Lagoon ??? (The Pack is an TMAll)
and
2. The Name of the File was changed from

"Object-Collection.Title.Pack.Gbx"
to
"Object-Collection@flighthigh.Title.Pack.Gbx"

So the autoupdate does not work. All have the MP3 Version with the old filename inside the .xml in the pack. But the new Filename is an other. I have on this Pack more then 2400 reg. Users. I cant told all that they nead a new complete download.

Is therefor a way?

Is this a different behavior than before? For example, was it possible to enter your title pack in MP3 if a player doesn't own e.g. TMValley?

Yes, simply rename your new title pack "Object-Collection@flighthigh.Title.Pack.Gbx" with the new download URL to "Object-Collection.Title.Pack.Gbx" and upload both to your Website and the Nadeo cloud (let us name this version 2.0). After this recreate your title pack and register it anew, so that a new version of the title pack is generated (let us name it 2.1). Then upload it to your Website and into the Nadeo cloud.

If a user of your old MP3 title pack now enters the title, Autoupdate detects that an updated title pack is available and downloads version 2.0 from the old URL. Right after the player enters your title pack again, Autoupdate detects once more, that an updated pack is available and downloads version 2.1. Now everybody is migrated to the new file name.

This is the safe procedure. It worked for me. You can also upload your title pack from your new player page to the Nadeo cloud. After this, a message indicates, that your pack was successfully uploaded and that the download link was updated. I don't know, what this message exactly means and if Autoupdate really works if you only use this service.

1. I dont know that. But Player say that this is after the Update from tuesday evening. Behind this it isnt possible to open the Pack. All get the Message that they need Laggon. So we still wait on Lagoon before we can work on the Pack. :x

2. If the Packs works i look that i make it like your way. Thks therefore

I give an feedback if all runs in this Century :D or in the next

You don't think using German in the English forums increases misunderstanding? :P

OK i come down and think that i make a new start.

I want to update my old Valley Titelpack to MP4. I copie the workfolder to /WorkTitles and make an ingameupdate of the Pack.
I get an new File inside the PAcks-Folder with this @flighthigh inside the Filename.
That works

Behind that i see that the Tracks for the Campaign are not in the Pack.
I see that in the WorkTitles-Subfolder of the Pack is a Folder calles Maps.
I make a new Shadowcalculation of the Tracks check them in the Editor and copie them into the Maps-Folder of the Packsfolder in /WorkTitles.
A new Packupdate ingame gives me this Errormessage

Image

OK i take all Tracks out the Folder and put only 1 new Track what i build under MP4 into the Mapsfolder.

But after a new Packupdate i get the same Errormessage as before.

I dont know what i am doing wrong
