Buddy-list: No notification for new messages/Saving old messages

Somehow I don't get a notification when I receive new messages from my buddies. If I click on the list, I see a red dot next to the name who sent me something, but I've never seen any notification while playing/idle-ing. Would be cool to get a small hint somewhere in the top left corner if someone wrote something.

Also, the message history gets deleted. While keeping everything might be a bit of an overkill, keeping the last 50-100 messages/lines would be appreciated.

Not sure if some hidden Update fixed it, or if my wild clicking came up with a solution.

Buddy-list notifications work, if you go to settings, switch the settings once to do-not notify me and back again to get notifications. Chat history still doesn't get saved.
