TM2 Lagoon bought, activation key not working?

Hi Nadeo, Ubi and Forumites

I managed to scrape up just enough cash to buy TM2 Lagoon and I made my purchase (I have my receipt if that's helpful to you). However, when I entered the series of characters under "activation key #1" into the "keys" tab on the "main" maniaplanet station all the game did was tell me the key was now registered to my account. No download started and if I go to Lagoon in the store the green button that should now say "Install" still says "buy full game".

If I enter the key I received on my player page instead it tells me "this game key is unknown".

I may take this to Ubi support as well but first I want to be sure that key #1 is for the game and I'm not going to receive another email in a few hours with a second one.

EDIT: I've contacted maniaplanet store support and got an email back stating in some vague terms that they couldn't help me because they "could only answer maniaplanet-store related questions." I don't understand why this wouldn't count but as long as my problem does get solved this evening, I'm not picky about how.

Try contacting the Ubisoft support, they might be able to help.

If they aren't, then you'll have to wait until the NADEO folks get back into the office next week.

The ubisoft help won't let me select a platform for trackmania lagoon and won't let me submit a support request without one.

EDIT: I spoke to ubisoft support anyway (I have some secrets :)), they believe the store gave me a bugged key that was region locked to the EU and it doesn't work since I'm in North America. The only solution they could see was to get a refund from the store and buy the game again through steam. Getting a refund would take a week (if it happened at all, these prepaid cards can be finicky with these things) and as I alluded in my original post I would not be able to afford to buy the game again until that happened. There has to be a better way.

And I very much hope the Nadeo folks can help me find it before the weekend is over and this gets buried under a pile of threads from people talking about using the product I've paid for but not received.
