Password reset not working on old account

I bought TrackMania2 Canyon on Steam way back, and I thought I'd pick it up again. I reset my password from within the game and got a new one in my mailbox. However, the new password sent to me is not accepted by the game, nor can I log into to the website using that password. If I try to reset my password through the website it tells me my account is too old to reset the password. I tried creating a new account but of course that won't allow me to link my game to that account as it's already linked to the old account. I tried resetting through the game a second time, but again that results in a new password that is also not accepted by the game.
