TM2 Stadium scoreboard question

Hey, I bought this game just yesterday, but I am curious what is that silver/gold/bronze thingie to the left when I open the scoreboard ? Also I noticed yellow stars in scoreboard, is it some kind of achievement or somerhing ? Thanks

The gold/silver/bronze "thingie" displays the ladder progress of that player. The ladder progress is being divided into so-called echelons. You rank up one echelon every 10.000 points and there are bronze, silver and gold echelons.
The stars are ManiaStars, which you can receive if other players vote for you on the playerpage (https://v4.live.maniaplanet.com/account/maniastars). Depending on the amount of votes you receive, you will be granted those stars in return.
