The other problem is this, and it seems to only happen if I start the game in fullscreen mode and goes away if I alt-tab twice and doesn't happen at all if I start the game in windowed mode and then make it fullscreen. It happened before and I initially thought it was because I had the game installed on a dying drive and decided to move it to another while the registry entries and all that still pointed to the old location. That in itself didn't present a problem but after I uninstalled the game and cleaned the registry (without deleting the MP folder in documents) it seemed to have fixed itself.
I don't know what the cause is this time...
UPDATE: I completely reinstalled the game and the second problem seems to be solved for now.
