Simplify mesh doesn't work, when we have texturized faces with Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V

Hello AurelSM,
The issue you encountered is actually something wanted but hidden by the material you picked.
Simplify is not applied here because the 2 triangles don't have the same UV coordiantes on the edge they share.
Indeed, Simplify only works if the edge between 2 triangles can be deleted without affecting anything else, and that includes UVs.
The pavement material you picked though is an "automatic" projected material. It means the faces still have UVs somewhere but the material won't be using them and only use a projection system from the game : hence for you it seems the UVs are the same on the common edge whereas the Ctrl C + Ctrl V changed them
If this is the default behaviour, it's because it can make very ugly UV mapping after merging.
tl;dr : "it's not a bug, it's a feature"
