Nub questions regarding cars

Hey just new to TM2 and had played nations for a month or so a while ago so is all new to me really. Question is around cars. First one was ive seen people in canyon driving different cars? Are they unlocked through single player or something? Second one was if i paint a custom skin can everyone see it, and can i see other custom ones. I noticed in a race today half the skins were white so im thinking an option needs to be enabled?

Custom car models have been made before TM² for TMUF and stuff, it was possible to import them but atm it doesnt seem to be working that well I guess (?)

If you do a custom car you need a locator, otherwise it might take hours until it is on other PCs, assuming you both have P2P enabled

got it thanks, what about just skinning of the standard models. Can i create a custom skin that others can see and see theirs, is the skinning just something thats visible locally, or the other way i would have thought with some games is you can see the skin if its pre-downloaded - like a pre downloaded league pack or something in other racing games.

Upload the zip file of your skin to a direct link file hoster or tfp server, copy the direct download link, open editor, paste it and save it like this:
If your skin name is, for example, Exampleskin.zip then save the file as Exampleskin.zip.loc in the same folder where the zip is located
