[CLOSED] [TM2] - Does not detect internet connection

I just loaded TM2 for the first time after install. the ManiaPlanet launcher claims that I am not online. However, this is just not true (I just downloaded the files, and am posting to this forum from the same computer).

I had been connected to VPN but tried disconnecting this and it had no effect.

Also (may or may not be related), the first time I launched it did not detect my video card and "ran a bench" to detect my settings.

Windows 7 Professional, i7 870 x 8 core, 8GB RAM, ATI Radeon 5700, DSL 10MB Connection.

After a few hours, the connection was mysteriously detected (no changes made to the computer).
