sp not displaying

does any one else have the same problem as me I only got the game last night and have only been on o dozen or so tracks but my skill points still show 0 even though i have a few gold medals, is this a bug or what do i need to do to get skill points. I seem to be going up the rankings but getting no points !!!!

Skill points are earned for official times. After getting a gold medal on a track, a timer is displayed in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Every time that timer hits zero, you can attempt an official time and earn SP. The amount you get depends on how well your time compares to all other players who have an official time on that track.
