Cache Size?

I've just gone to boot up TM2 and a 'Cache Size' message has popped up in the game window saying -

Your cache is almost full. Do you want to increase the maximum size of your cache.

Current cache size - 629.1mb
New cache size - 1.25gb
Space left - 430.2gb

I'm given the option to 'apply', 'cancel' or 'never ask again'. What is this refering to, and has anyone else had this message?

Cache is the folder where all Avatars/Skins you download while playing online are saved. If it is full you wont be able to download any more of them via playing online. You also can clear the cache in the launcher in the PeertoPeer tab if you dont want to increase the available space.

Strangely though, I've not actually downloaded anything, unless they auto download when playing online and get stored locally to save time next time.

Thats exactly what it does. If you did not deactivate the download it automatically downloads all Avatars/Skins from the players you play with. The white bar you sometimes see on the top right corner shows the download progress (it also shows the progress for Signs and some other stuff which is always downloaded even if you disable p2p download).
