Totally new to MT...

Post by Hcorp »

The tutorial on the wiki for MT is ass and I don't know any TM2 MT resources, so I'm coming here to ask. How do I make a red-coloured block? The ones with Interpolation options, etc. This seems like it'd be simple to do but I haven't found a button for it.. help?

Yeah, that was the first thing I found. I tried all of the options from the 'Insert box' though and none of them make the red box, they all seem to be effects and editing options rather than what I actually want, which is just a camera I can manipulate so there isn't just 10 seconds of the viewer looking at my bumper in between corners.

Edit: God damn it, I missed the line where it said 'You have to delete all of the tracks and effects to edit a replay'. Problem solved... maybe?

Go to Mania-creative.com (google Mania Creative, I'm not sure I got the URL right) and go to the tutorials section. For TMUF, look at the Mediatracker section. Yes, I know this is TM2 we're talking about here :) But TMF and TM2 share the same mediatracker in functionality, just in TM2 there are more effects to play with... And if you still have questions, return here and we'll see what we can do to help you out.

Thanks man, I'll check that out.

Ok, small query. A couple of my key points are bugging out - the camera just does a double spiral for no reason. What do I do about that?

The simple answer? Delete and replace the keys. The complex answer that doesn't involve deleting your keys? See those tiny little 3 dots kinda near the middle of the left-hand toolbar? Click on those, and it'll drop down another menu with lots of complicated options. If you're talking lateral spiral (aka roll), then what you'll need to do is zoom in on the keys (right click in between your keys and drag to the right, you may have to do this more than once to get a good zoom) and slowly drag your time-marker in between the two keys, watching the roll number. If it goes crazy, just reset both keys to 0, and you're done. If that's not it, well, when you open the dialog box, just start watching all the numbers. If any of them start freaking out, then you know that's the reason...or it could be you screwed up interpolation along the way--while a lot of cam moves are smoother now, the game still doesn't like mixed interpolations... :-?

Thanks a lot dude. Managed to record a couple of videos without my cameras being whack. Still a lot to work on, but getting there I guess.
