Trackmania, meet Team Fortress 2
One of the amazing things about team fortress 2 is that it is at the moment more or less self sustained by the community. (bear with me, im going somewhere with this) You see, valve encourages people to submit their own weapons and cosmetic models, and the best quality models make it in the game for every player to use, even 4 years after the game's release the game is still being updated. (Do you see where I am going with this?) Why not encourage a similar system in trackmania? Imagine, set up a simple, long running contest or something to design a new set of blocks, and the best blocks make it in-game. Remember the freshness that the "Forever" update added to Trackmania United? A similar, community driven update a few months down the line would really help ease the wait for shootmania, with not as much stress on Nadeo. Thoughts?

(however, most of the tf2 content ain't free and I've never spent even a single penny on tf2)
Re: Trackmania, meet Team Fortress 2
That is completely, 100% wrong, unless you consider "most of the tf2 content" cosmetic items. All of the weapons can be acquired in gameplay at no charge.metoxys wrote:(however, most of the tf2 content ain't free and I've never spent even a single penny on tf2)

And what exatly should Nadeo change? I mean are you short on community sites here? TM is the best game to share your creations with as a far as I know, the game now promotes authors even more. I mean WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM HERE?????

That there isn't enough default content in TM2.janculits wrote:And what exatly should Nadeo change? I mean are you short on community sites here? TM is the best game to share your creations with as a far as I know, the game now promotes authors even more. I mean WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM HERE?????

The suggestion was not about default content - was it?

No, but the way TF2 works, it adds more content than simply re-skins or texture mods of the existing set. And, further, TMUF allowed for customization of -everything- if you knew what to do and where to go...in TM2, half of the content is secreted away in packs...which are deemed corrupt and re-downloaded if tampered with. This isn't the open-ended, open-door policy that Nadeo is known for, which is why threads like this exist.janculits wrote:The suggestion was not about default content - was it?

Which is the thing exatly that you could modify in TMUF and cant in TM2 anymore?
The packs are for creation authors, all the data you would need from Nadeo side is not in packs
I mean the only difference is that Nadeo does not tamper with these creations - also do not force you to download them with the game itself, only as additional thing you can chose. TF2 additional content is very limited, only developher approved and so on.
Would you really want to exchange the freedom of skins and mods to limited item mall?????
Edit: also if they allowed to "change" stuff ( you know not only "reskin"), it would be bad for their business
I mean the only changeable things in TM are blocks and car handling. Who would need any new TM envs anymore then? I believe they gonna open block editing up later...
Edit2: it took quite some years for TF2 to start to support this content - it was not on the first day. That is like anti-die-out strategy there.
