It's for TMF but in TM² it's not so different.
- You did.
- And...
- ...I didn't.

GPS (Fly-by tutorial v1)

It's more of a track fly-by which in my opinion is better than any birds-eye-view GPS.

Open up the mediatracker menu in the editor (click the video camera icon) and choose 'Edit' the in-game media.

Click the 'add clip' icon to the far left of the next screen (towards the bottom).
I then have to use the mouse wheel to make sure the green trigger box is on the same level as the track pieces. This box tells you where you have to drive to trigger the 'GPS' camera.

(If you want you can have it behind the start or make a new track section that the player can drive into to trigger the GPS. Or you can put the trigger right on the start and then a new trigger on the next track piece. This new trigger can be just a blank clip, needed to stop the GPS when the player drives forward. Also, if you have the GPS start right at the beginning, make sure you give the drivers a few seconds to move forward so the GPS doesn't start every time the person restarts the race.)

Confused yet?

Ok when you have chosen where to put the trigger to start the GPS click the 3D box 2 icons to the right of the 'add clip' icon, this takes you out of 'trigger placement mode']

Click the icon to the right of the 3D box to add a new MT BLOCK. (You can have as many blocks in a clip as you please, therefore multiple cameras, text, and effects, starting on a single trigger.)
If you want the GPS to start automatically after a few seconds while waiting at the start, add some text to count down the start of the GPS.)

Finally, add a new camera block, most people use the 'Custom' camera even when making camera paths.
At the top left 'block start' should be 0 seconds and 'block end' should be whenever you want the GPS to stop. Try not to make it longer than 20-30 seconds as many people get bored after a while.
Now click the <-> icon to show the FULL timeline as you have extended it. (The <-> icon is directly above the red bar (block) you just made.)

Under 'block end' it should say 'target' then your name. Click the arrow to the right of the name to make the 'target' 'none'. Now move the camera into the first place you want the GPS to start.

Now click somewhere else on the red timeline block and click add keyframe. (the down arrow) Now move the camera to the next position.

Keep doing this until you have made the entire path.

Press play to test the speed of the camera movement. (Not too fast but better fast than slow!)
Your goal should be to make a fly-by cam that smoothly floats through the entire track as though you are looking through the eyes of superman.

[PM me if I miss something (namely Alcator) or if you want screenshots.]

If you are confused about the MediaTracker make sure you have read the TMN manual (.pdf file) located in the main Trackmania Nations folder.

@Shoko: It seems that you are doing it extremely wrong. Just extremely wrong.
