Trackmania² isn't dead, folks!

Post by Ozon »

Hey you!

You probably read some article recently, about people complaining about the "Death of Trackmania²".
The servers are not full enough, the community isn't big enough and Ubisoft is not smart enough.
In this article, I want to tell you "haters", TMF's and complainers something about how this game deals with the community. How awesome it is, and how you TM-F lover can change to TM²!

Trackmania isn't Dead!
Hylis wrote:And first year United sold five times less than Canyon right now. Long term != short term. This end of the year has many video games releases etc. Even the first TM started only with Power Up (9K units fist year I think) And Maniaplanet 2.0 + new blocs + Storm + Valley + Nadeo Live + More communication + upcoming events + community should be enough to have a lot of dynamics, compared to Power Up ^_^
Hylis said it .

Now to the actual post:

You guys forgot, that there will be 3 (+) environments on Trackmania² ? That it just came out 3 months ago?
That it is normal, that most of the players stay at TM-F for a certain time? Me neither!
I play often on servers (even at european), like fullspeed or mini servers. I also play a lot of TM-F and CS:S and many other games like Minecraft and so on.. so I'm an average player; but a player, who knows a lot of the TM community!
I've been playing Trackmania now since 4 years active, played TMN 6 years ago. (Offline, no internet..).
I do a lot of videos, because Trackmania offers me a whole package of creativity I want to share with the world!
I've done also a lot of tracks, helped people, played a lot online and met new friends! That is what social gaming is all about. Trackmania is the best game ever made in my opinion.

So don't tell me, how community works!

Trackmania² came out (beta), I purchased and let's go! Honestly, I was a bit confused with the gameplay at the beginning too, but i figured it out , how to handle the car! And you?
I'm very confused with the new driving... no air control, and a car that just wants to set aside and crash..
Not fun at all
So, that is what most of the dissapointed guys feel like. If you ever have played original environments (Rally, Desert, Snow), you know, that they haven't air control either! If you just learn to find the perfect line on a track and to drift where it's necessary, you will become a boss in TM²! I figured it out, too, so why not you?
No explanations how Manialink works, how mediatracker works,..etc.
Isn't it more interesting if you have to find it out by yourself? By the way, you can look that up on Maniawiki.
Servers are nearly empty.. on TMF are much more players
First at all , Trackmania Nations Forever is in my opinion a strategy failure made by Nadeo. They released one of the best competition games ever for free and so, this is how the human works -> Free? I'll take it :roflol:
There are so many TMNF servers now, made in the past 3-4 years, because there were really some people buying TMUF to 1. pay the servers / 2. enjoy the other environments & compete against other clans, like the TMNF's do, just on 7 environments. Trackmania runs on nearly every machine, and that makes it attractive for peole with low-end pc's. And the main point: So many players in the years.. join a server and just play.. the perfect game.
Trackmania ² has the same structure, is also attractive for low-end pc's, but you guys need to learn about patience. :pop: And don't compare Call of duty with Trackmania! CoD is a mainstream shooter, who sells the same engine for about 3 years to guys with too much money. :0010
I stay at TMF, TM² is boring
Fine. But competitions from ESL for example are in Canyon, not in TMF anymore! And if you call TM² boring, go shoot yourself. And you'll see, when Valley and the other environment(s) are released ;)

But this doesn't mean, TMNF has no competitions.. even a lot more (also from the community) where you can win coppers.. but the future it could be ;) But if you really prefer competive feeling, go ahead, stadium waits for you.

Maniaplanet won't be sucessful
Ubisoft sucks. Yeah ubi ruins the games in some way, BUT Maniaplanet is a very good idea in my opinion!
Imagine yourself playing Trackmania² , Shootmania and Questmania so a racing game, a rpg and a shooter with the same interfacial design and engine! And you don't even have to quit Maniaplanet (the program)! And you can invite friends to servers, join clans who play on a crossplatform-game! Fuck the world? No FTW = For the win! :1010
All you have to do, is save some money and wait. And don't forget your expectations!
This text makes me wanna play TM, SM and QM now! At the same time!
Me too! I just can't wait for the new releases!

So, you don't like what I wrote? Reply me, but if you want to insult me: Shut up :teub:
OR buy TM², SM or QM and be happy for lifetime ;) I promise.

word. the competitive scene of TMNF is still very strong (even though nadeo have done a somehwat good job trying to kill of the game). and if you look at just ESL it's no question that the TMNF section is still the most active, and i don't see that changing in the future personally. (unless of course nadeo kills of the game completely which they might do since they seem to dislike the game which i find very unfortunate).

The game is pretty much dead.

Those are the things I don't like about TM2:

1) The steering is too shaky. I like to drive a car, not a boat.

2) The maps are boring. Narrow roads are more exciting, but because of the shaky steering, most people don't want to race narrow roads. I've seen it many times. As soon as there is a map coming with narrow roads, many players leave the server. I end up racing alone most of the time...

3) The editor is too limited.

4) Because of the boring maps, I built myself 10 maps with narrow roads. But now I cannot put them onto a server and race them against other people. I am not a computer wiz, and it is too complicated for me to make my own dedicated server. Besides, I don't want to have a server running from my own computer. Nadeo should make it possible for people to host their servers on the Nadeo servers. Basically this should be built into the game. With a few clicks one should be able to start a server and upload the maps, and that server should then run 24/7 even when the user, who started the server, logs out.

5) Most servers are Time attack = BORING. I only play Rounds, because I want to compete with other players in real-time.

6) In TM1 I only ever played Dirt on Rounds server. Where is the dirt?

7) In TM1 on the rounds servers, there are usually 4 races after warmup. That's a good number. In TM2 sometimes it's like 6, 7 or 8 races. Too repetitive. Becomes a drag. WHY DO THEY MAKE THINGS WORSE THAT WERE GOOD BEFORE???

8) Often I find that there is only 1 rounds server, and it has like 5 people on it, and when I want to join, it says, I don't have enough ladder points!!!1 HELLO??? There are hardly any people and you keep locking me out? :teub: I mean if you had A LOT of people then I could understand, but you have no people and you still lock me out??? I am not a crap player. I won lots of races on ALL dirt servers on TM1. STOP LOCKING PEOPLE OUT, WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY. I PAID FOR THE GAME!!! :teub: :teub: :teub:

More challenging! More realistic, but also more fun... you just must figure it out...like coast.

You are right in this point.. many people cannot drive narrow roads, 'cause a gamepad would be optimal for it
3) The editor is too limited.
What do you mean? They improved the editor! If you want to blockmix, you still can use TM2Unlimiter.

Step one -> Register a server on "player.maniaplanet.com"
Step two -> Download a server tool ( For example: http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=261&t=5639 )
step three -> After 30-45 minutes and a lot of brain activity, you should have a dedicated server ;)

What the fuck? I'm sorry for my language, but when it says you don't have enough lp's, start gaining them!! Or did you ever played TM1 so fast that you can have 80.000 lp's in 30 mins? They don't lock you out, they want you to play! Yeah. There wouldn't be any fun if you haven't any restrictions. Or ever played a RPG with cheats? I don't know..
6) In TM1 I only ever played Dirt on Rounds server. Where is the dirt?
WTF²? I don't have to tell more, i think..

You better stay in TM1 until it gets boring.. 'cause TM2 is designed to be something very new, not a replica of stadium..

@Frostbeule: Will be fixed ;)

This is wrong, you dont buy an dedicated server there, you just buy the limit for an existing!! server. Normal limit is 0-50.000LP and there you buy the abillitie to setup your server to a higher ranked LP server. But you have to respect then some rules.

I think you just shot yourself in the foot. Sounds pretty much the same blag to me. Canyons cost me £20GBP ... all the next environments are going to cost me £20GBP (23.7604 EUR) .... SM and QM and all their environments are going to cost me £20GBP EACH !! Let me tally this up a minute .... Mmmm.. At least 3 environments each for TM2, Qm and SM (maybe more later) so that equals 9 environments. Ok, 9 x £20GBP = £180GBP !! Thats 213.846 EUR. Thats quite a killing for a game with the same game engines !!

Sorry ... I've got to agree with Allan_ch for the most part. Hate narrow roads tho.

tl;dr other posts

The original environments DO have air-control. You do it by repeatedly pressing left-right-left-right-left-right or the other way around in midair.

Look this video, read the number of players on the left.
This was TMU on the FREE launch and the first 2 pages of servers was in this way.
After Nadeo released TMU for free, we saw 120000 players online.
