GBX online viewer

Post by .dejavu »

Hello!
I was thinking about a thing that can be usefull.
It sometimes happen that you're at work or at school, and you don't have installed trackmania, but you would like to see replays, no?
Then would be really nice to have an online GBX reader, that allows you to upload the replay and see it!
Understand what i mean?

That would be nice for TM2 of course, but if i have to go offtopic, would be awesome to have it also for TMF!

Indeed, this would be awesome :) Maybe it is possible to create a videofile out of a .gbx, without starting trackmania? Maybe just by starting the HQshoot part of the MT?

Yes but that mean that you have to instal a software related to tm and render a whole replay to any video format.
I mean a thing like immageshack, but for gbx/replay files.
You upload the replay from tmx or your computer, than this online hoster, plays the gbx file and let you see the replay!

Yeah, i know what you mean. But if you are able to extract this part of the MT out ot TM (which i doubt is possible), then you can run it server side and only stream the result (a live running replay or a produced video) to the client.

Well, i guess that such a website/replay viewer can be created only by the devloppers of course.. It requires a lot of knowledge of te game itself.
So i just hope for someone of the team, that have the time to create such a thing ^^

Gbx files are many files unfortunately. Challenges, Replays, Configurations, Profiles, Scores, etcetera. That's why a Gbx reader in theory might be buggy when looking at the wrong files :/

There is an XML header in each GBX file that tells them apart you know? I'm sure any reader with logic can tell the difference and identify them.

I have on my pc a script that uses the gbxfetcher by xymph for replays. This can fetch challenge data or replay data.
