[Canyon Blocks] Scenery

Post by GrimR »

I had some blocks in mind that would fit in the Canyon environment.
I mean, something like:
- Gas Station - inspired by the American movies which contain scenes located in deserts with gas stations in the middle of nowhere
- Oil Pumps - from TMUF's Desert pumps of course, but make them move this time
- Water - for making some nice looking rivers or small lakes
- Cacti - i think that this one's necessary for an environment like this
- Waterfalls - not really sure about this :?
- Hoover Dam - this would look cool
Winning doesn't matter. It's important to participate

Or racing at the top of the wall... It could make a slight/fast turn but its connexions with other blocks may be complicated.

As suggested by Toninus:

(A 3rd way could even be drawn on the bridge!)

Discussion there on the french part of the forum, with other pictures and ideas for canyon and valley. ^^

It would be cool if the canyon walls would be drivable as a wallride type thing with quarter pipe landings and all :)

It'd be awesome if there were boost blocks that would shoot you out of one tunnel and into the other...or is that what you were already thinking?

Do you mean something like the tunnel with the boosts and the jump at the end than land in the other tunnel on the other side?

There is no need to have this blocks in the game. Someone of the community will create one :)

Exactly! :P It'd be nice to have strict-geometry blocks in the editor (not sure if that's the technical name) so we can put things right up next to the water...I did this a couple of times in Bay, but due to the nature of the blocks, it didn't quite give the feel that I was going right from tunnel to tunnel...

But we still have to hope, because the blockimport function may not be in the game at the first release :?
Hylis wrote: Even with this two parameters, we have a lot of work. When we announced TrackMania 2, our plan was to first release one full game. Now, we have added ShootMania and QuestMania to take care but also the maniaplanet application and servers. So, things takes more time. For example, I still have to decide if I will include the splitscreen mode and the block import at first release. The engine is done to welcome both features, but the interface are to be done. My idea is that since we want to release three TM² environments, we may use those occasions to update the game with these features.
