I just just heard about the game and, excited about the game through the trailer, was expecting it to be a third-person shooter. Somewhat disappointingly (I do like FPS shooters, just not as much) I learned from videos and online information it was a first person game. While I'm still very interested, I think it'd be great to have a third person mode or game-type.
It may be because the stuff I've seen is pre-alpha, but the action and speed seems a lot more interesting to me through the over-the-shoulder third person in the trailer. First person gameplay seems a lot slower.
Third person play mode?

So I'm guessing that's a no?jonthekiller wrote:Nadeo hasn't planned to add a third person view actually.

Oh well, that trailer really gave me hope for the next great third person acrobatic shooter. I was hoping something along the lines of S4 League's quick and agile combat/ camera, without the Pay2Win System.
I don't know much about the Mania scripting/coding from the little I've gleaned from articles, but will it be possible for some map makers and admins to create maps/servers with third person?
Re: Third person play mode?
Maybe with MediaTracker

Re: Third person play mode?
If there is no third person view I will likely never buy the game. (Bummed) I may try a demo version but I don't like first person only games.

Re: Third person play mode?
I guess you could make a 3 th person mode with maniascript? or not?
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world monocular.
Re: Third person play mode?
I've played tracks with cockpit view, which is not officially available in the game. I have also made tracks with clips from cockpit view.db89 wrote:Maybe with MediaTracker
All thanks to Mediatracker (and Nadeo). If it works in TrackMania, may work in ShootMania.
If ManiaScripts are not very limited...adder wrote:I guess you could make a 3 th person mode with maniascript? or not?

Usually, I cannot play ego-perspective shooter games, simply because they cause me nausea very quickly.
However, some people might be more sensitive than me and if these people can be served by just 1 "camera" setting, it should be really considered...

Re: Third person play mode?
Why do you want a third person view to play? Only for spectators is good.
The gameplay of a fps in 3rd person is really bad!
And 99% sure it is possible with Mediatracker
Do you have epilepsy?

Yes, here is a good "because"...TStarGermany wrote:Usually, I cannot play ego-perspective shooter games, simply because they cause me nausea very quickly.
Luckily, SM runs so smooth and "slow" enough so it doesn't happen...

Re: Third person play mode?
Well, let me tell you this:
Years and years ago, when I discovered that egoshooters cause me nausea, I took the liberty of contacting some neurologist in the near university medical centre (I lived right around the corner) and they were not surprised about it. They even told me that this very slight form of epileptic sensibility is pretty widespread among the population, up to 10%.
It is called "photosensitive epilepsy".
My experience with shooter games... it is a very curious thing though. Just by inserting a player figure on the screen, the brain can somehow manage the visual data much better and the problem is -gone-.
