Seems that the latest round of patching has fixed the flickering skin problem ... well atleast for me. I just ramped my settings back up to uber sexy level, played online and not a flicker to be see.

Hi wizardface, w1lla's advice will do what you require, but only on servers that allow you to save tracks. Another method is as you guessed, copy the files from the cache. As you may have noticed, everything in the cache has a filename that is a hash ... what do you do to change those hash filenames...

Pressing cancel to stop the download was too much of a challenge? May I suggest you cancel when the game states that its trying to connect to the mania servers. This should save you from this pesky update shenanigans whenever you dont want to.
