Tutorial for converting maps from MP3 to MP4

Post by HaagseSmurf »

Updated Tutorial: How to make batchconversions in Windows 10

1) Remove first all your maps under c:users/your name/documents/Maniaplanet/maps and place there the maps you want to convert
2) Go to the startmenu and type

Code: Select all

CMD
A dosbox will open. (in win7 Press Windows+R to open “Run” box. Type “cmd” and then click “OK”)

3) Then type 2 times:

Code: Select all

cd ../
(this only works if you have Maniaplanet installed at C. : If you have installed Maniaplanet somewhere else then C: you need more doscommands to get there then the describtion written underneath)

4) Then type:

Code: Select all

cd program files (x86)
(you dont have to pay attention to caps, its not caps-sensitive)
5) Then type:

Code: Select all

cd maniaplanet
6a) Then use the commandline for canyon

Code: Select all

ManiaPlanet.exe /computeallshadows /upgrademaps /useronly /fullcheck /LmQuality=High /titles=TMCanyon
6b) Then use the commandline for valley

Code: Select all

ManiaPlanet.exe /computeallshadows /upgrademaps /useronly /fullcheck /LmQuality=High /titles=TMValley
6c) Then use the commandline for stadium

Code: Select all

ManiaPlanet.exe /computeallshadows /upgrademaps /useronly /fullcheck /LmQuality=High /titles=TMStadium
6d) If you have any other maps then canyon stadium or valley you can also use this command

Code: Select all

ManiaPlanet.exe /computeallshadows /upgrademaps /useronly /fullcheck /LmQuality=High
6e) If you want to have the best computation ever, and willing to wait longer, replace the High for Ultra

Good luck!

And a simplified version:

1. Backup all maps by renaming "Maps" folder in your user data directory to anything else (like "Maps2" or whatever).
2. Create new "Maps" folder and put all maps you want to convert here.
3. Go to your game installation directory (where ManiaPlanet.exe is).
4. Create file named "ConvertMaps.bat" in this directory (or just any name ending with *.bat).
5. Put this command in this file (change /titles= accordingly):

Code: Select all

ManiaPlanet.exe /computeallshadows /upgrademaps /useronly /fullcheck /LmQuality=High /titles=TMCanyon
6. Run the *.bat file.
7. ManiaPlanet will compute the shadows of these maps.
8. ???
9. Profit.

What if the original authors of the maps don't go through this process and I only have the their maps in title packs?

I only have title packs from other authors, not single maps.

Does that work too?

And since it say "computeallshadows" in the commandline I am not sure it fixes the bugs of missing blocks* in Stadium maps.

*) it's a default Nadeo block that now is simply missing and you fall through what was fromerly the floor (no block mixing in those maps, only standard editing without custom objects made).

I have a r290 amd 4 gb videocard.
In "high" i could convert about 55 Canyonmaps per hour.
In "ultra" i could convert about 18 Canyonmaps per hour.

And Ultra is indeed more pretty, but for racing online, i should do first a High convertion to get a server running.
Redo them after you start your server, that gives you way more time.

Good luck!
