How moddable will the game be?

Well, I disagree with that because being moddable never hurt any other company in that manner in fact it adds incredible value to the game to have a bunch of extra content available which makes people more likely to buy future titles.

You're probably right.
I'm not a game developer.

From what I've read so far the game won't be fully customisable as other game engines (like quake / UT), you can not add weapons or change models for example.

I'm not an expert on quake/ut, but i think that the advantage of SM (as other Mania titles) is that modding is relatively easy, and can be done by everyone.
So it is easier to do, but has limited possibilities to keep it understandable for the average player.
Take TM, with paint and a zip program you can already mod a lot, without ever having to see any code or such.
To mod quake or ut you would need to have a lot more coding skills etc.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: How moddable will the game be?
you're right, and I'm not sure if it's good or bad... many average players don't and won't care about modding something themselves (skinning/cars creation/mods creation/maniascripting), and they (will) just take something already created by others. but this something is limited, therefore it's less interesting/worse than it could be...Knutselmaaster wrote: So it is easier to do, but has limited possibilities to keep it understandable for the average player.

How do you define the average player? Almost everyone I've met in TM has created their own car skins at one point. And it's amazing some of the most untechnical people I know have got into environment texture modding, obviously with mixed results quality-wise.

with average players I mean these thousands of players, who just play online or in solo campaign, and have never heard of MX or Maniapark. they do nothing for the community.

Indeed, all they want is new stuff all the time.
And that is the power of Mania imo, the relative ease of creation/modification causes a constant flow of new materials to play with.
And because people find the more and more creative solutions within the limits of the possibilities, the quality rises all the time.
Kinda comparable with game consoles, where first generation content is a lot more "primitive" than games that come out four years later.
Look what Crusard did in TM, compare his first tracks with his last ones. (sorry for the insider example, you could watch youtube to see what can be done with the "simple" tools, it is amazing.)
