I think he means on the ground. On other surfaces I definitely hear others' footsteps.
Re: Option for disable own footsteps sound
You can hear the footsteps of you opponents, of course.
Except on the grass, walking and landing are muted for other people, nevertheless if you jump people will hear you.
You're also slower on grass, so if you want to sneak somewhere, walk on grass, and do not jump.

I think you might wanna look at your sound options / soundcard becuase I can clearly hear other people if they're on the grass or not. It's a lower sound yes, but it's definately loud enough for me to be able to hear it.

Hello Chipstalaizah, can you confirm that you can hear opponent walking on grass at more than a block or two from you ? (a block is equal to 8m, so more or less 4 Shootman standing)chipstalaizah wrote:I think you might wanna look at your sound options / soundcard becuase I can clearly hear other people if they're on the grass or not. It's normal to hear people that are really close to you, but if you hear it from larger distance that is a problem that has to be reported.
Thanks.

That's the idea, isn't it? If it was easy to run around and yet still hear opponents, where is the challenge?kalstrams wrote:People, I think author has meant an option, that would let us to turn off our own footstep sound, so we do no hear our own steps. It irritates me, for example, just because when I move I know that I move, and my own footsteps can mess me up detecting enemy's footsteps.
Keep it the way it is now, it differentiates between good and not so good players who can still distinguish opponent footsteps while running around themselves.
Stop trying to get the developer to make the game dumber and easier for you. Learn to distinguish between sounds instead of asking to have certain sounds removed.
