oha, very strange.
Yeah it looks it is a bug somehow.
Can you please try it again, and check for an actual logfile (ManiaPlanetLog something .txt or .log) and upload it here, or in the beta forum?

Other idea:
which kind of ZIP application do you have generally?
Perhaps you have some weird settings or they link to a application that doesn't exist on your system?

Since XP or so there is native support for ZIP in Windows, but external tools offer much more flexibility.

I use win native zip extractor (I'm on Win7Pro, x64) or WinMount (default). But as a software developer myself I think the problem is that the code doesn't delete the original file and doesn't rename the .tmp file to .zip. Which I think is a process nadeo coded. I've checked if somehow the file to be overwritten is write protected but it's not...

but it is not generally a bug because i just have tested, I chose one of the existing original skins and could modify and save it as new name without any problem.
So it must be specific to something you and others with the same issue have on their machines
I hope Nadeo can find out the issue with the logfile.

I've done some extensive testing and here is the verdict (on my system).
First you choose a car. Then you do some changes. Save them as new. TMP file is created. you then rename that .tmp as .zip. You then open that car again add another change and save it (under the same name). Again another .tmp file is created. Again you rename that .tmp to .zip. After that step you can then go ahead and do all the changes you want because all the changes will be saved directly to .zip (no .tmp is created or it is successfully deleted). So after 2nd atempt you are good to go. Yeah it might be something system related. I bet all of us who had that problem are on x64 systems...

well, I'm running Win7 64, and with SSD, on which ManiaPlanet stores my creations ;)

could you try the following?
temporarily disable the virus scanner and see if the error persits?

which tools are running, which you have installed?
daemon tools?
other disk utilities?

Please give as many details as possible.
