Map view

Post by volum »

If map is password protected, you cant see how it looks before putting it to server. It would be nice feature to have 'view map' option so you could view all maps around (password/no password) in editor but not edit it.

i agree on viewing map, i strongly disagree on opening in the editor though

as tm2unlimiter loads the entire editor and the map in your computer memory and then enables blockplacement everywhere, it's a small step to alter the code (it's source is given out freely) and use it to edit and save the passprotected map. (or create combined blocksections for future use)

might be a good idea to add free roaming mode as a playmode, but NOT in the editor

edit: currently Local Play is greyed out, but that doesn't mean when the game goes live you can't open passprotected maps. (just hope they add Numpad 7 in local play)

the next step would be a crypted protection of a map, which would make unlimiter inpossible ...

ehr??
what difference would that do?

unlimiter runs the game like it normally would so also opens maps like it should.
As long as there's a pass on it, it can't be opened. That is the encryption already

The problem would only rise if pass protected maps can be opened in the editor environment for preview purposes as volum suggested

if one can open the map with a custom tool that is able to decrypt, then the step to modify the map or to reuse it is not far away. it is only a question of intellectual property ;)

the tool doesn't decrypt at all. The game does.
starting to wonder if you've ever tried tmunlimiter..

Anyways, we're kinda going offtopic..

No need to be offending
I was only figuring out what could hapen or what had to be done if a encryption was used.
I could ask if you know what this means in return, but I don't.

Topic can stay on since the original question is good and should be discussed further.

ehr.. there's nothing offensive in wondering if your discussion opponent has expertise in the field he's talking of.
As i strongly had the feeling you were just trying to keep the discussion going without having background (coding/engine) knowledge.

And I had the impression you did not get my point, instead you probably think I'm against the unlimiter tool for some unknown reason.
