You're right. They're different things, but somehow they also feel somewhat related. I have no old version of Canyon to compare the current Canyon cameras to, so it's really hard to identify a changing DOF.

However, with Stadium, we have TMNF that we can compare it to.
You're definitely right about the DOF changing. I made a video and I was surprised by how much it moved. It didn't seem to get worse and worse though, it just changed DOF after the first booster and stayed at about the same DOF, even though the car was accelerating over multiple boosters. So I suppose you would just learn to drive with two DOFs.

Below is the video where I overlayed the TMNF footage over the TM2S footage and synced the starts. You can definitely see the scenery in the distance move away after the first booster there.

Thank you for the nice example, but if you could also make this video without boosters, that would be cool (sorry to bother you ^^). There seems to be a maximum DOF indeed, but I think it varies continuously within a range of speed, something like 0-300km/h. When you accelerate normally, the DOF changes but doesn't reach it's maximum immediatly. So it may not even be as simple as 2 DOFs. In tech maps, your speed remains usually between 150 and 400km/h so that's precisely where the perspective is disturbed.

It is perfectly logical in a way, they had to set up a maximum DOF (it would be too distorted beyond this point), and make it correspond to 1 speed. They chose something like 300km/h (I am going to try and measure it) because it seemed a good compromise maybe.
I watched videos, I must admit it looks awesome with great feeling of speed, this camera should be kept as an option.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TinwP7J3nGQ in this one, you can compare the "previous" new cam2 and the "new new" cam2. The previous one (camera further from the car, variable DOF) is a pleasure to WATCH :)

EDIT: nope, my bad, I think you were right. The DOF only seems to change on boosters whatever your speed and whatever the direction of the booster (yes, if it slows you down, the DOF still increases which is... :roflol: )
I can't seem to change the DOF without boosters, but one day I will ... The problem is, even if it only applies to boosters, the DOF doesn't change instantly, there is some sort of inertia

Now I know why I was getting dizzy :?
Shouldn't be too hard to have an option 'Disable FOV' or something in the final version ?

Except if it is integrated in maniaplanet game engine, and if we are the only ones asking for that option :(
