It will. :) It was originally devised as a way to convert maps built in the Platform title pack back to normal Race maps. I learned it from this topic: http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 93#p152893

Make an account on Mania Exchange and publish/upload it there. That's where most of the community publishes their maps and it's where most server owners get their maps.

It's a little big bug that disallows you to change from scripted Maptypes (like Platform) to hardcoded maptypes (like Race).
You can place a MapType file in the specific directory, select it with your map, then save, delete the MapType file, restart the game and load the map. It will then be the default hardcoded Race MapType again.

In Shootmania every Maptype is scripted and as a result you don't have issues like these. Wish Nadeo would finally fix this issue though :P, so we don't need weird workarounds.
