- You wanna do a clan...
- You need a site and a good server
- To have a good site you need visits on the site
- You need money to pay the site and the the host
- You need sponsor if you don't wanna invest much money
- You need visits on the servers to attract sponsors
- You need 150 players server to do a recycle of 40 players/min
- You need at least 1 server LOL tracks to attract all new players
a TA server with 150 players, and especially LOL tracks, and more than probably hidding opponents, would be the last place where i would try to recrute for my team. 98% of players on such servers are exactly the opposite of the player profile that i can find interesting for a team.

What are you making a team for ?
play with old irl friends ? new friendship ? having the time to read the chat is helpful, isn't it ?
competition ? better go on some server looking more like competition servers : small/medium Rounds ones.

I have servers for my team needs, for some other (ET, etc.) competitions needs, and yes, most are empty most time. I surely not have servers to have the best visited server, i just don't care about such thing, and i'm surely not alone.
www.e-gekko.net wrote:You (all) don't understand there are people that work with bandwidth.
And so ?...
speaking of bandwidth, a server having 150 (active) players use far more bandwidth than 3 servers having 50 (active) players each. Or are you meaning that using more bandwidth is better ?

And anyway, what the point in that discussion ? TM accept already up to 250 players, which is already far more than usefull, and there is no reason to have Nadeo reduce it on TM2. Usefull for relays ? well... what competition requiring a relay has more than 100 players ? if needed you can setup 10 relays with more than 100 spectators each.

Its exactly this attitude which pisses people off big time, Gekko. Arrogance. You never get tired to mention what you did since the birth of TM, what you do, what you code, how much money you spent etc etc. I better mention that you are the only one of the big fellas in coding who always mentiones his role and the stuff he made..in every 2nd posting. You call other people noobs and in reading your postings someone can read that you are pissed that other Controllers are more successful, running on more Servers and so on. Wonder why? Its not only coding skill which is important.
You dont accept any other opinion than your own really and i could go on but its wasting time.
He doesnt answer anyway so back to Topic :)

These two points right there are very similar to my opinions ... I also decided a LOL server was a bad idea, i used to love the old days in firebengles playing there but is it the right place to recruit long term tourney driver?? NO!!

We also at dr-ukr have a mammoth amount of servers (public and non public) and most of the time, many of them are empty ...They are there to be utilised "as and when needed" by the team. We often have people say but "your teams crap as you don't have people in the servers etc" but we have what we need for when we need it, and outside opinion really does not matter, we are growing, getting faster and racing amongst the best the TM community has to offer ... what else could one want? i would call it a success myself (even if to public players it looks like we are mostly idle).

It's allways nice to see others sticking to moral stance and not wanting more than can be acheived realisticaly, it somehow reassures me that there are normal people out there that do not demand from others and do not "throw their toys out of the pram" when things do not go as planned for them.

TM's Community it based on stong social groups that do not care about the little things, and do not demand recompense for the work they put in ... .as they do it for them and their teams enjoyment...

Mucho kudos to all those that continue without demands or sulking, it's much more admirable than the "other methods"

As for the 90% of admins thing, i was never asked ;)

For Slig :
Yes i agree with you, why you don't understand this????
Lol i need to write in super mega extra big characters????
I AGREE WITH YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!

But as i wish some features, i try to explain which one can carry more players to the game, THE GAMEEEEE, not my servers, THE GAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I will no more say my ideas, but only what i hate:

I hate empty servers
I hate 8/12/16/20 players server
I hate discriminating LADDER server 0-50K, 50-60, 60-80-79,29,34,52 BingooooooOo!!!!!
I hate a user, is the IPOCRISY done human!!! I will destroy you!!!
I hate ESL. I noticed in February that ESL was going bankrupt, nobody listened to me, and now my prediction is reality, and none received money!! HUAhuahuahuhu!!!!

To Pesky:
I'm happy you talk of my controller, NOT ME, never done, I TALKED OF STATISTICSSSSSSSSSSS, READ AGAIN, STATISTICCCCCCC, DATABASE, do you know????? MySql???? do you know?????

To werewolf:
Yes i get reaction, but i never answered to a user like "the 1 i hate until death" answered me.
I have respect of all users (except 1), the arrogance Pesky is talking about, maybe he refer to "the 1 i hate until death".

So finally, Nadeo will do a great work. No matter how will be this dedicated software.
GG.

We have 3 or 4 servers that get used by our CMC team. I don't think they all run 24/7 but when you have three squads playing matches on the same day then you need the multiple servers. Trackmania has servers for all sorts of different things.

I've played on a "public TA" server twice in the last two years, I only ever play to train for ET leagues. I'm only ever on training servers or our private servers. We all have servers for our needs, and inevitably they often end up empty.

The server search lists the full servers at the top anyway, so new players would see those and join, not scroll to the end, see a load of empty servers and never play the game again...

This is just a discussion. No one needs to be happy. Stay, your perspective is valuable. You present a view point from an engaged admin. Those in charge of these forums(and the game for that matter) will most likely use our discussions to tweak what they already have in place. So there is no need to try to make anyone happy at this close to the projected release date.

I think we really need to get back to the topic. Although i was happy a simultaneous discussion arose for server controllers, this is getting way of topic. So relevant questions would be:
- Operating sytstem for the dedicated server sotware
- System specifications
- Expected bandwith for the new trackmania
etc. etc.
