And you upload times always when you get them better, which means it isnt official mode,it is like taking all times from Solo instead.

And the timer is there to prevent nolifers from abusing the system.

Re: [Epic suggestion] Official times
Also arent the servers "checking" if you dont cheat? Because if you press pause the official run ends. I mean they cant check every one of your run.
But I think they tried to change attitude to official runs in TM2. Maybe they are not for you anymore, if you dont have the time or will to bother with them. Maybe they are saying - official is for you only if your a pro nolifer. Sounds ridiculous, but noone said official times are same thing on TM2 as on TMF...
Also you wouldtnt improve your ranks even if every run was official, because guess what - "pros" would have their best time officialized too

A timer gives nolifers even more big advantages, because not any random player wants to wait 5 min for 1 offical time. Then you fail and you have to wait 5 min again.
not only that the timers supports nolifers, the timer knocks the planets out. no more reason for planets, everyone can just donate them to the servers, so there is a major problem, because there will be too many high rank servers

Re: [Epic suggestion] Official times
The timer is just completely supporting the nolifers.
Okay, now really. EVERY system supports nolifers. Timer = Nolifers have the advantage. Planets = Nolifers have the advantage. Absolutely nothing = Nolifers have the advantage.
Nolifers have an advantage no matter what system you use, except for direct restrictions but that would piss off the players too hard. But the current system doesn't just directly give nolifers the advantage but gives extreme disadvantage to non-nolifers uuugh lifers.
Whatever, the only way I use my planets is trying to get a nice score at Manialoto^^ To obtain more planets. Crap. Didn't think this far.

Well, if you crash, that's your fault. Just don't mess up your run and you'll save these 5 minutes waiting time.wiidesire-2 wrote:A timer gives nolifers even more big advantages, because not any random player wants to wait 5 min for 1 offical time. Then you fail and you have to wait 5 min again.
The official mode is about weighing 'driving savely' up against taking too much risk. It doesn't favour 'nolifers' but skilled players.
@ metoxys:
If you think the reason for timer is only to reduce server load, you simply don't understand the whole official mode.

okay tell me seriously whats the point of the timer. I do not know what to discuss about the timer, because its so completely stupid I cant even believe.
Sure every system supports nolifers, but the timer is supporting them the most. I mean every normal player doesn't want to wait 5 min for 1 offial time, if you do, seriously think if there is something wrong or missing in your life.
And that's the point. You can't drive the singeplayer ( offical times I mean) and the multiplayer has only LOL and Fullspeed servers right now. There are no skill servers. For me there is really no point to play tm2 right now, because everything is just screwed up. I can live with the fact that there are no online servers with skill maps, but if I want to drive some nice offical times I have to wait 5 minutes, seriously?

So many people will donate planets now to servers, so there will be a planets influence.

Re: [Suggestion] Official times
You wouldn't have to wait that often if you drove more safely.
Also, if you don't like the maps on online servers, build better ones. That's the idea of TrackMania / ManiaPlanet.
Or just open a server with nadeo maps if you think they're the only ones that require skill.

Re: [Epic suggestion] Official times
Hi,
I also would guess that the point of timer is to have less stress on some sort of replay validation server and nothing more. Vast majority of the players seem to dislike it atleast. I haven't made official times after day 1. Or well, tried day or 2 ago, crashed and was like "..well,
that"
I think its good idea to make something like metoxys suggests. Start playing map, play it 15 minutes, maybe 30 minutes. Then when you want to quit or maybe play other map, you would get that "upload official records" button if you improved your previous personal records.
As the system is now, I don't give a
. Some records just there that aren't even world records. Just some meaningless records that someone happened to get.
If I select some time to play against, I know that he either waited and waited to play again and again, was lucky, or was holding back to drive safe. And if I manage to beat his/her time in official mode, I know I beat him because I played, waited and played again, was lucky with the run, or I held back less than he/she did. Latest option being the one with most crappy time leaving me with the feeling that "I could have done atleast 0.4 sec better" or so.
I wouldn't mind if it cost me 500 planets to send 1 official time, as long as I know its the best I could do.
