TM2 on VM Fusion 4 (Lion)

Post by groovyf »

Was hoping to get this working on VM Fusion, but alas, no.
Game installs OK, but when running it tells me "Video card performance has not been found. A quick bench will be performed"
Click OK, and I get a small, blank window appear, then a message box stating "Could not retrieve your graphic device performance. Automatic graphic quality may be inadequate."
Click, OK, click Play and a small window appears (as though trying to initialise a display mode) then disappears with no game.
Have tried config options to 640x480 and "safe mode" in the Advacned gfx option but no luck.

Has anyone got this working in VM Fusion?

Hi, sorry,
but TM2 doesn't fit to VMWare Fusion, I think.

Note to Fusion 1,2,3:
This article provides information about reducing the size of the video memory (vRAM) allocated by Fusion.
Note: Fusion assigns 128 MB by default and does not support assigning more.
:
Note: The vRAM assigned by Fusion does not equal the size of the video RAM available to the guest. The guest's video RAM is limited by the amount of vRAM in the Mac's graphics card and the maximum of the guest operating system. Windows XP has a maximum of 128 MB, whereas Windows Vista and 7 have a maximum of 256 MB.

TM2 require 256MB Video RAM at least.

I got "Video card performance has not been found. A quick bench will be performed" with TMUF and TMNF too, but the old games require 16MB Video RAM only. All the Time I select a usefull Video Setup everything works well (with TMUF and TMNF).

With regards,
Lutz

BTW,
this is the WDDM driver for Vista/Windows 7
> [Dx9] "VMware SVGA 3D (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)"(0x15AD,0x0405) with 7.14.1.1131(vm3dum.dll) DDI9 driver.

I use the old SVGA II driver with Windows 7, but I don't know/remember how to switch the driver (from SVGA 3D/WDDM to SVGA II). But I don't think, TM2 works well with the SVGA II driver, but TMUF and TMNF do.

With regards,
Lutz

The only successful attempt people have had at getting TM to run on a Mac was via Bootcamp.

Hi fastforza,
TM2 doesn't work.

Today I use VMware Fusion 3.x to play TMUF or TMNF. And a TM Server is running in a second Guest.
Bootcamp should work, like any standard Windows System with a sufficient graphic.
Bye, Lutz
