I'm really the last one to request free content if the product is good,
and TM titles always have been excellent.

But you can't close your eyes and ignore the facts.
4 months after release of TM² i can't find a single server in europe holding
more than 18 players in the evening ?
Less than 5 european servers even hold more than 3 players ?
Forum is also pretty dead - just check the Deepsilver forums what was
going on 4 months after release of TMU (or even 2 years after TMU).

But what empoweres you to think that Maniaplanet 2 will change anything ?
Will it actually have impact on TM:C ?
How will it increase the playercount ?
(Still this whole maniaplanet thing is quite confusing for me)

P.S. installing TMU right now :)
P.P.S. Oh boy ...
TMU downloaded/installed - Update available
TMUF downloaded/installed - Update available

it is not only MP2, it is also all the new environents, game types & modes.
you should read what Hylis is planning, there are also some interviews.

but since you're just starting with TMUF, have fun and be patient towards MP2

I'm not just starting with TMU - played TMS+TMN+TMU about 3 years :)

Ah, good, didn't read about the MP2 thing concerning new environments
and modes. That indeed sounds good.

On a sidenote - well, i checked at 7am in the morning, so it might not
be a perfect time to check, but TMU didn't hold more players than
TM² does - of course, TMN are cramped, but Stadium isn't really where
my love is.

it is a bit odd to count only on the number of players on a server, since this doesn't really tell about the quality of the server, of the tracks and of the players.
Btw. high player count makes huge network problems for P2P on each player's machine, and people complain about stutterting and lags :roflol:

There's a difference between 32 players and 256 :)
Client-side i never had issues, but servers need lots of bandwith.

And well - there's without any doubt more challenge on a server
with 32 players than on a server with 8 players (unless the 8 player
server holds only above average drivers like during clan matches)

you mean because you don't get LP with less than 8 players, eh?
I thought the driving is the fun, not the LP ;)

To be honest with you - i still don't get it what all those numbers are there for.
Coppers, LPs, Planets ...
And when it comes to national/world ranking the TM system is screwwed anyways.
But i love to race and see the scoreboard with 4 guys only seperated by 0.1 seconds,
pushing me forward cutting that one corner even more.

If it's only for pure racing i play the SP missions - less weirdo tracks *g*

Coppers... are the original currency unit of Trackmania, designates a value of a block in the editor, and shows how heavy a track is (the higher the number of coppers the higher also the number of blocks used in this track).
In the first Trackmania, you could get Coppers by driving for medals, and the Coppers helped to unlock blocks in the editor.
SP... are SkillPoints, you can gain them playing the official solo campaigns
LP... are LadderPoints, achieved on online racing
The Planets will replace the Coppers and allow exchange of tracks, skins, models etc. through the whole Maniaplanet 2.0 universe, this means also across different game types (TM/SM/QM).

But as you say, the fun in driving and playing is the most important

Couldn't agree more with this. Sure we know how the actual logistics of the numbers are for, but really, they still aren't of any use.

The separate environment thing is just because many players complained about this or that environment they had to pay for but they did not like
This is only a bad excuse. I'm pretty sure that this was a ubisoft idea
