If you wish to express a dissatisfaction with the game, don't think it's so implausible that there are also people who actually have the complete opposite view and love the game as it is.

Of course there's small things that bug me and I hope are improved over time, but nothing that ruins my enjoyment of the game, and nothing to dampen my spirit about the future of the game. I've got better things to do than "kiss ass". I express my love for the game and the community out of my heart, because it's something I truly believe in.

If you assume everyone has ulterior motives, you will go through life very unhappy. Not everyone has a hidden agenda.

It's better to trust and love than to never know love at all.

When I say I love TM, I love it. I don't say it to please people. In fact, it seems to have the opposite effect on a lot of people, and it's why I've toned down my expressions of affection for the game in recent months. It seems people simply don't want to hear it.

People would rather complain and make wide assumptions about Nadeo's intentions. Why? Because it seems to be in the spirit of the internet to do that. It's a culture that has developed, and it saddens me to see it invade the TrackMania community. Though I'm not really all that surprised.

It's also sad that any form of moderation is looked at as censorship. As Hylis eluded to... what you seem to want is anarchy. And yet, I highly doubt you'd want that either.

As I see it, we're guests on Nadeo's forums. When you're someone's guest, you act with certain forms of decency and courteousness. You are respectful, and you don't talk about your hosts in a rude way or make assumptions about their intentions.

You bought this game, and that gets you a certain amount of "support" and "voice" about how the game is and where it's going. But I think we should all keep our place. We're the players, Nadeo is the developers. To presume to do their job for them or to know it better than they do, when they have been doing it far longer than us and have a far wider picture of how the game is affecting many different areas... it would be both brash and foolhardy.

because we want it to be better, simple as that. if one doesn't like smth, he has the right to say that. (and why it's always being considered as a complaint?) The problem is (I think it exists) that Nadeo for this moment have hardly made or changed smth that players suggested or didn't like (except for bugs, but mainly just in beta). why there's "suggestions" forum then? to convince people that they have some influence on development process, when they really don't?

You only see what's in front of your face.

We don't know all the changes Nadeo has made and what they've been hard at work on for the past months.

Let me put it this way. You were planning to clean the dishes after the evening meal just to be nice and surprise your parents. Then your mother tells you that you have to clean the dishes. How does it make you feel about doing it? Instead of doing it out love for your parents, it makes it appear that you are having to do it because you were forced to do it. This takes some of the joy and satisfaction out of doing it.

Likewise, if we're always harping on Nadeo to do this or that, it must take away some of their joy about what they are doing. It certainly would for me. I know they're getting paid, but there are also other motivations for work besides money.

I'd want to do stuff out of my love for the community, not simply because everyone demanded of it or because people thought they were owed something.

Suggestions are all well and good. Nadeo likes to hear them. As you say, they even have the suggestions forum. But there is a line to be drawn somewhere. Repeating the same thing over and over isn't really furthering things. We can only state our suggestions and wait.

Anyway, that's my last thought on this topic as I'll be gone for some days on a business trip.

Have fun!

It's an expression which means... you only believe what you can see in front of you right now.

You're not being far-sighted about things to come.

Do you think Nadeo has worked day and night the last 11 months doing nothing? We'll eventually see the fruits of their labor.

Thanks for the well wishes though. ;)

Omnixor, you want it better, and so do we!

If you are not making a better TrackMania yourselves, do I have to assume that you don't want it better? We have our limitations and are working hard to have time to address the topics we also want to address. I have various options for the future of Stadium in my head, I made Stadium with the team, I have brought support for years to it. All the late nights at work, week ends etc.

I have also been posting about this topic lately and it's quite interesting to see the amount of posts now about this topic.

As i see it, there are 2 different sides right now, one side that is happy with TM2 Canyon and can play that alongside TMF and enjoys both games and the other side that do not like TM2 Canyon at all and continues to play TMF as that's their game/style of preference. For me that's fine. i have no problems with people thinking other that me. I will though also expect them to show me the same courtesy.

@Hylis; i think you actually should be glad that that people are posting, even though they are complaing. That means they have an opinion and a passion. It would be worse if nobody said anything, that would mean nobody cares.

I think that this "complaining" actually is a tribute to your work. You and your team created something really special and unique with TMF and from that "platform" grew a very special and unique community. For that i thank you.

However, i do not agree with the way you ,more or less overnight, changed what you created with the introduction of freezone. I think this was a bad, rushed descision and that it was disrespectful to the United players who bought the game. As a United-player (buying customer), i saw very quickly a dramatic change in the amount of online players and available servers (the quality of the product i bought got worse). Now i see anothe product (TM2) that i am not interested in. I did though buy TM2 upon release hoping it would offer a continuing of the TMF-experience. Sadly it didn't. But by buying the game TM2 Canyon i don't like and don't play or have installed anymore, all i hope for now, is that my hard earned money i spent to buy to buy it, contributes to you "staying alive" long enough to bring something new to the table i will enjoy as TMF. I mean no disrespect in saying that i don't like TM2 Canyon and that i am not interested in valley or shootmania or questmania, it's just a fact.

I appreciate the fact that you are hard at work and your long hours. But please, also respect the fact that people are buying what you are hired and paid to do with money they got from working hard doing what they are hired and paid to do.

As for beeing constructive, it think most TMF-players would be happy with a "new and improved" stadium (United, not free) with some updated graphics, high-res textures, interface and some new blocks. Not´hing more than and updated "experience" as everything else is either there already or will be created by the community.

And yes, i have supported you by buying 6 (six) TMUF-licenses to run different servers and help some members of my team who was about to quit because of freezone. i will not hesitate to buy another 6 licences in the future IF you come up with a new game that i can enjoy playing.

All is for sure not well with the TMF-community, the big question is if a "cure" comes along before it dies. If it comes we will pay for it.

Over and out!

1. why not remove free zone. ?
2. why fix stadium. ?
3. why add a function to game and it not works 100 % ex. the trigger bug we had. ?
4. why not hire a few players that can find all bugs for you. ?
5. why is there small bugs that anyone can find, havent you looking for bugs or is that our task in your opinion. ?

If you would hire me to try everything in the game, the game would be bug free.

btw: i think you guys love what you are doing.

But why?

Thinking about Canyon as an environment, how is it any worse than any United environment?
The only significant difference I can come up with is that the graphics are much better.
EDIT: Forgot about the fact that Canyon doesn't have stunt/platform modes, but in the game's defence they're said to arrive soon, along with custom game modes written in maniascript, and that alone is epic.

I'm not taking sides, not trying to defend Canyon - I'm trying to be as reasonable and un-biased as possible, but what does TMF have that Canyon doesn't? (besides more environments)

I see plenty of fun servers open, and for the competitive players there are constantly online leagues/tournaments happening, and in the short 8-ish months that this game has been alive there have already been ~10 LANs all over the world.
