But why?

Thinking about Canyon as an environment, how is it any worse than any United environment?
The only significant difference I can come up with is that the graphics are much better.
EDIT: Forgot about the fact that Canyon doesn't have stunt/platform modes, but in the game's defence they're said to arrive soon, along with custom game modes written in maniascript, and that alone is epic.

I'm not taking sides, not trying to defend Canyon - I'm trying to be as reasonable and un-biased as possible, but what does TMF have that Canyon doesn't? (besides more environments)

I see plenty of fun servers open, and for the competitive players there are constantly online leagues/tournaments happening, and in the short 8-ish months that this game has been alive there have already been ~10 LANs all over the world.

Canyon does not have Stadium.

For my part, and i mean no disrespect to the developers, this is my personal opion based on the time i spent playing it before i stopped;

-I don't like Canyon's desert-like environment
-i don't like the car or the handling
-i don't like the tiny roads and the massive wallrides and such

The game simply is not my cup of tea just like any of the other env's from United that i did not like neither, Stadium was and is my environment of preference.

PeroTT, it is just a matter of time of we succeed to bring you a better experience or not. It is like luftisbollentm2 saying that we can hire someone. It is not that easy. You have to find the place, train, manage etc. And if you have such somebody, when this is time to have the next important project to release, you set priority because you want exactly what PeroTT describe: that the long hours of work also transforms into salary so you can continue in the best conditions.

But as I said, we have made and support Stadium for years. And this is only too much negativeness toward us or other players that I find making the mood to bad to accept it. There are many points I can just agree. We made the game and we want what is best for it. For now, we are making new things like Maniaplanet 2 and Storm. And I don't say you are and I find your post well balanced. I already said that I was thinking on how to have more support for stadium and it is just that because debate is too difficult with some people, that I prefer to keep the thinking for myself and announce and release when this is sure cases. Even when we delay the release, we have negative comments, while it is obvious that we are just working more on the same thing. I understand the feeling, but we are doing our best, and I doubt many would say that we can do a lot better since they are here playing the games we made. If it was easy to do better, I kind of suppose many people would do it. And I don't want to sound like I think we are great, I just try to rationally shows that the situation is more simple than some players thinks it is. We have work to do, we do it like we did for years for their favorite game.

And I have no issue with people that dislike Canyon and say it. I have made many gameplay in my life where I knew many will dislike. When I choose to make Coast, people looked at me as if I were crazy. I made it to have a specific taste. Yet, some of the greatest track where made on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXRicmQ0EMA Stadium had more support than any other game from Nadeo in the past, so it is legitimate to spend time as well on other things. Meanwhile, this is probably the safest past to a longer lifetime for Stadium if we do something in Maniaplanet with it. But I already explained this. But when I read that "Nadeo pays no attention to their players." I think that it is different from saying that you dislike Canyon. If i say that you pays no attention to your friends, it can be insulting. People would act more naturally if they were in front I think.

Thank you for your reply. This direct interaction with the developers is also something that sets TM apart from most other games, developers and communities, even if we agree to dissagree on this specific topic.

Even though i don't like the current (released) game i will ofcourse follow what you are doing and watch out for coming releases. I will also ofcourse continue to play and enjoy TMUF, even if the Canyon ad irritates me If that's what's required to keep it alive i will live with it

For the canyon adds, I would like to have something to disable it when you want, but even that I have no time to make it atm. So, I don't think we disagree too much on many topics, because it is often logic, but I just think that some judgement should be avoided. Yes the add brings more revenues, but if someone would like not to see it, I don't think it will remove us any significant revenues. We even made it at the time where we put advertising, it was possible to disable it in the launcher (I had to negotiate this specifically for the players that I supposedly don't care :p)

i remember i played with someone called nadeo on time.^^ (i think it was someone from the team so all of you is nadeo or is it you Hylis that is the Nadeo guy" ? maybe its a secret, but that is okey. :p

i dont like the drift in coast but that is becouse i dont understand how it works and i have played stadium forever, and i didn´t like the other environments, and that mostly becouse of that i didn´t play those as much as stadium and learning the different techniques.

If you play something alot you will get better and better and in stadium it is very professional to make the perfect drift, when its in canyon is so easy that a toddler can drift. ^^ and that is great becouse this is a game for everyone.

I'm going to give my perspective as a new TM player and old gamer (over 40, under 50). I have never played any of the TM games before Canyon, this is my first experience with the game series. So I don't have any preconceptions or biases regarding what came before. As a standalone game, I have had tremendous enjoyment from the game, and exceptional value for the money I paid. Any game that keeps me playing almost everyday for the six or seven months I've spent on Canyon, is great value.

I started just playing the solo campaign, and then slowly got into the multiplayer once I felt comfortable with the game. That is where I spend most of my time now, although I still go back and try to improve my solo times. Even though I don't create cars, I downloaded some that others have made, and I've made tracks for my own personal use. I appreciate that the game becomes so much more than what you pay for based on the user content that comes from all over the world. Sometimes, I'm amazed when online how I'm driving against people in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, etc. all at the same time! I don't know that I could ask much more of a racing game. I've certainly played many that are much much worse.

So, I would say, I am happy with the current state of Trackmania, and I truly look forward to the next environment. I do plan to purchase the new ones as they are released. And being an old Counterstrike 1.5 and up player, I look forward to Nadeo's fps as well. These are just my opinions, of course. To me, it's really just a great game that I love to play.
