I guess we just need to sit down, watch and observe how everything goes. I guess² we are used to this

Re: Overwatch finishes Shootmania
I would like to add that SM is getting old.
Every good game that gets released ( not just OW ) steals away players from SM.
The same goes for every other game of course : if something new comes out, players will check it out. If it wasnt like this then why would developers even bother to create new games? hehe #logical.
What worries me the most is :
- SM needs to get updates to keep players engaged.
- SM needs to become better (also compared to the other newly released games ) so that players will try something else out, but will also come back ( because SM is better )
- OW felt waaaaaay more polished/finished/optimized than SM.
( The menus, character design, bugfree etc )
I didnt open MP/SM a single time during the OW beta. I guess OW captivated my attention and I really liked it. The game is in beta and I didnt experience a single bug. In SM my game crashes 5x every day ( not overexaggerating ) and my buddlylist never works AND THIS FOR 2-3YEARS WITHOUT NEWS/ATTEMPS TO FIX IT.
So no matter what good game gets released, SM needs to become way way better if you want to keep your active players and attract new ones.
I dont think I will play any SM anymore. ( Well after 24/5 ) But I will come back to check out the future updates ( if they ever come )

Re: Overwatch finishes Shootmania
I don't think so sir. Every new game i get interested in is allways going to draw me away from Shootmania, perhaps even for a longer amount of time. But i ALLWAYS goes back to good old Shootmania.
I've invested so much time into this game and i've trained for so long that i like to think of my self as a bad "pro" in this game.
And i have to say, this is the first game i would dare to even have that thought. And i think the players that are still here have the same experience. They allways comes back.
Best game EU

Nice to heer
But... Pah, Shootmania did not invent this genre. It's only an additional game there
Basically it only tried to give shooter players a much more easy way of mapping. For that it does well.
But either it is alreay much to complicated for noobs (too many blocks but no idea how to use them) or still not enough (not enough blocks and not enough diversity, e.g. different settings aka environments) for advanced mappers.
Usage of items was added and explorerd nicely with titles like Quakelike or Speeball titles.
Suprisingly most of the titles are just new scripts and a few objects & textures, but I don't remember having seen a title like RPG Stadium for Shootmania, where nearly everyhting is modified in every map.
And certainly the "no kill" preference of Nadeo already prevents all players who prefer more "realistic" war fighter games like Battlefield or The Divison, respectively same with the "no monsters" setting for the fans of Doom or Half-Life like games.
We have to see it as it is: a niche product in a much more vast universe, where there is always a newer better game which attracts the masses (at least for some time).

Re: Overwatch finishes Shootmania
Shootmania doesn't have to invent the wheel. They just have to make the best wheel

Re: Overwatch finishes Shootmania
Your optimism is nice, but certainly does not match reality by far

This is one of the top reasons why I like SM.TMarc wrote:[...]And certainly the "no kill" preference of Nadeo already prevents all players who prefer more "realistic" war fighter games like Battlefield or The Divison, respectively same with the "no monsters" setting for the fans of Doom or Half-Life like games.[...]
