I think we all have just different views, and passion for the scripts we've started already, maybe also too much of hours put in to the projects already started... Conclusion from my behalf after this is: it's better to have more choises than common controller... It brings diversity which I think, at the end is only good - more choises for different needs.

So lets forget this sunday morning stupid idea. Many Thanks guys for your insight and replys. I hope that some of the talks we've had with eachother and maybe someone else for this topic has been more positive than negative, and I hope we learned something new from this conversation. Thanks Xymph, Oliver, Undef, W1lla, ManiaDesign, Guerro, Domino and Toffe and Tgyoshi at #development channel!

My best wishes goes to everyone at server plugin community!
Good luck for the projects that is being worked on,
- Reaby
Why would you start all over ?
I mean you and Ollie made such a nice controller wich works perfectly ( For most of the community ) so why start again.

eXpansion is not build entirely by Me and Oliver, though the eXp team has been coding all the gui, hud and functionalities of it, later the team has consist only the two of us. The basis of eXpansion plugins is powered by ManiaLive, which is basically a framework which everything relies and builds up. History of eXpansion plugins has alot of ups and downs, lots of joy, some frusration and ofc some sad moments. Oliver has made his opinion quite clear about eXpansion, I do updates and new features for pure fun of coding. The overall trend of exp plugins is that it is fading litte by litte.. eXpansion could need more coders, it's just getting too massive to maintain, but many sees it as closed system, which is funny... and I think I'm right saying, some feels it's just too overwhelming to learn it - too many files, folders and classes..

I know now 3 controllers is being build from scratch, we have massive know-how at server plugin community in overall which solutions has worked so far and which hasn't - but its scattered. This idea is still just a stupid brainfart at sunday morning: What if we could gather the knowhow together and build something with combined strenghts of different areas we are good at. This is why I asked here :)

The server plugin guys.. we know each other somewhat good, I hope you guys think the same as I that we have shared alot of knowledge which we've learned by trial and error. Some solutions which worked, some bugs we encountered... etc etc..

So I had this idea, if we could team up and build something together, combining the best parts of knowledge and create something very cool. Even we have some different views, and also a lot difference with experimence of coding :)

I'm maybe beeing naive and stupid here, but I still think, if we can combine our strenghts, we can make something very cool!

So for me personally, the reason and motivation why to start (yet again :)) over (would be my 3rd time to start over)... is

1) To learn a new language, I don't know much of c# for instance, nor python, nor etc...
2) To collaborate with great ppl at community
3) To share knowledge on decisions which wouldn't work
4) To share knowledge on decisions that works
5) To have fun creating something new :3

But in the comparison it's similar with my WIP-TM-Project 2014/15. I wanted to create a big titlepack with custom objects, textures, menus etc... At the start we had some supporters, but the time after it was hard to organize all parts and ManiaPlanet have to be bug-less, because if there are still huge bugs, it's impossible to create a big community-project with 1000 workarounds...

I think it's possible. I liked that wip project (I still have 'wip' in my name ingame  , but my 'wip' is meaning as I'm doing WIP projects). I would be happy if we can continue with the Seaside or Lake. The Lake was almost finished, so it will be easily done. But you said, you lost all items :/ . I can re-create it if you will want them sometime ;)

Don't get me wrong, but every time I see "WIP" on this forum I'm getting mad as f**k, as nothing marked with these letters is going to be finished.

The same here :(

Idk why but almost every project in this community was canceled. But it was a ****ing nice feeling to know, that many people wanted to create a "new trackmania" with me. Result= 2 working players - adamkooo and me. :0010

Minecraft killed my creativity

you tried to create Trackmania with Minecraft? Funny idea
Maniacraft

Really, you cannot blame the community for your own failures (I hope you learn from them) and other games which are perhaps more easily accessible or more a hype for some time.

It is great to see that there are still some people active and trying to creating anything
