You got the direct download link in your mail, it goes a bit faster, but how can you integrate that then in your maniaplanet?

I was having this problem, I bought from the official site and the download was super slow. Then I activated my key on Steam,the download there is ok, fast.

Go to Steam/games/activate a game with key(or something like it)

Not to mention that if you buy it on Steam, you basically have:
1. Steam as a platform
2. ManiaPlanet as a platform within that platform
3. Trackmania environments as stations within that platform within the first platform
... and you have to update the MP platform everytime Shootmania gets an update. This WILL become a nightmare once QuestMania comes.

You do realize that Steam purchases come with CD keys you can use for standalone downloads, right? Steam's still going to be not optimal, but you aren't forced to use it if you bought from Steam.

+ It works on a slow laptop
+ The blocks are very cool
+ The tarmac handling is great

Bad:
- The handling on dirt is very hard for Keyboard players, it's too sensitive and too easy to oversteer on dirt

Normally, there is instantly an email after purchasing which includes the code for the game. But there is no email in my mailbox!
I've already sent an email to gamesplanet-support, but nothin' is happening..

well did the purchase even complete? after buying the cd-key should have been displayed, so the mail is just a backup
