Arrowpad & Crosshair : A closer look Oo

Post by novationx »

Hi guys, Hi NADEO,

I have some concerns about the arrowpad and its crosshair. It's hard to explain so I made a video and took some screens.

What I understand :
-You dont see the center part of the crosshair anymore if you cant see where the arrow will land. ( f.e.: You shoot over something.)

What I do not understand :
- Why is the center part of the crosshair sometimes behind parts of blocks?
- Why do sometimes the sides of the center part of the crosshair dissapear? Why do the sides dissapear in the first place? Why cant it just be a static a cross/dot in the middle which simply goes up & down?

Is there something I'm missing?

Pinging / Spotting Impossible
You can not ping & spot correctly because the crosshair does not have a static centered dot and this should be fixed for competitive play. ( Read : I dont know where the middle of my monitor is. So I can not spot or mark locations correctly. )

Crosshair pixelated
When you play on low settings the crosshair becomes very pixelated. It's still usable but it surely is a disadvantage compared to high-settings-players. A crosshair is your aim and accuracy so it needs to be perfect. It also affects the visibility because it's hard to see this blurred/pixelated crosshair.

Cancelling an arrow ( with laser ) does not give you a reload
I prefere the weapon with fast-reload after cancels. ( In Elite )

Requests to NADEO :
1. A correctly working crosshair for the arrow with a static cross/circle/dot in the middle of the screen so you can ping and spot.

2. Arrow pad variants detached from the bluepads. I do not understand why it's linked to bluepads.

3. Some more possibilities in general for the arrow pad so we can change this unused weapon into something powerful.

Does anyone have a good arrow crosshair? Let me know ;)

Arrow crosshair moving part is a sprite image, like tree leaves texture. It's always faced front to the camera and it has no visual priority over 3D world, what makes it hide partially or completely behind blocks. It's normal behavior.

I personally don't see the point of "fixing" this "bug", because when half of the sprite is hidden inside block, other half shows perfectly where it will land. For me, if the circle would be always visible, I'd be confused, because it would be way harder to see where arrow will splash.

So for you this is just perfectly normal?
I cant even understand your explanation so how I am supposed to understand in-game ...

Computer graphics physics

Click here if you don't know what is a "sprite".

You can understand why the crosshair is hidden if you aim behind a block, so why can't you understand, that the texture is not visible if it's partially hidden behind another texture?

Sorry had to do it.

Thx for your time, legit explanation but imo that should be handled other way, it looks buggy to me.

Yeah. So there is a logical explanation. Great! But is it the best solution for a game? I mean if you look at the crosshair it simply looks buggy. That's the first thing that comes to mind. It's simply buggy/weird.
