About overlapping the start block with a turbo : It would cause texture flickering, which is a no go to use. Besides, the waiting time between each restart is quite low in TM. Helicopter drops are just part of the map, and generally boosts are placed right after the start blocks in the campaign. Removing the "3-2-1 go !" might also confuse players.disposableaccount wrote:about the helicopter drop off, is the game going to have more ways to gain speed right at the start of the track? Would be nice to get things moving quicker like removing the countdown or just say GO!, in a game like Trackmania where getting medals and better times requires constant restarts the countdown is just an inconvenience, it's specially annoying in short maps or when the map is hard from the start. getting a turbo at the start of the race would be great too, i've seen tracks like that with Unlimiter, overlapping the start block with the turbo block, it's really great.Cerovan wrote:Post your questions below, we'll try to answer them

There is several sentences recorded (and could give a hint about somethingdisposableaccount wrote:is the game really going to have the announcer screaming CHECKPOINT! every time? it's really annoying, the youtube comments agree with me

We'll give more information about the game modes on the coming weeks.disposableaccount wrote:what about the game modes? TM2 ditched everything the previous trackmanias did, some of the old modes came back as titles, some didn't, TMT will have some modes of it's own with none of the older ones, it's sad, rather than seeing the modes adding up they are just replaced
There is nothing we can do about that.disposableaccount wrote:how are you guys going to deal with the downvoting the steam version of TMT because the game uses Uplay? because that's might happen, it happened with other ubisoft games
You maybe haven't notice but Ubisoft has changed its strategy this year, they tend to actively promote a game when it's very close to its releasedisposableaccount wrote:why a bad game like The Crew gets all the attention while Trackmania gets none, what kind of advertisement will TMT have? what about sales for the pc version? it doesn't matter even if it's only a 10% off, sales gives the game more exposure since it appears in the steam and humble store front page

for what this game has DRM? It is a multiplayer game so you can't play it without buying it? And like the past has shown DRM makes lots of problems on the long run.Cerovan wrote:Not this time.disposableaccount wrote:any plans for a DRM free version?

Re: Trackmania Turbo has a new release date
yes, overlapping the start with turbo causes texture flickering, why are mentioning this? that was TMF's problem because 2 blocks were placed in the same space through a hack, it's not like Turbo has to be the same wayPapyChampy wrote:About overlapping the start block with a turbo : It would cause texture flickering, which is a no go to use. i explained some situations where the countdown gets annoying, boosts can be placed right after the start but having it right at the beginning can be a better option depending on the track, like the ones i've seen with unlimiter
i don't see how removing it would be confusing, what if it was 2 seconds instead of 3? would that be confusing? what about 1 second? starting a track in the editor or reset after checkpoint doesn't have a countdown and it isn't confusing.
Re: Trackmania Turbo has a new release date
Hey everybody,
i really miss the feeling/community from old TMN ESWC times. At that time everything was very nice. The game was f2p, we had a big community, and a competitive game. We didn't have hundred of feature, that nobody needs.
I started with TMS to playing NADEO games and stopped after TrackMania United Forever has died.
I hope NADEO/Ubisoft will promote / hype TrackMania Turbo. For example, they can make tournaments with prizes. Look at Riot Games, Blizzard or Valve (Dota2), what they are reach with a f2p game. I expect a competitive game. Trackmania was and is the only racing game in the eSports-Scene. I hope it stays that way.
Everything aside, I cannot wait to playing TrackMania Turbo!
Yours sincerely,
Emre T.

Re: Trackmania Turbo has a new release date
As Turbo is running on the exact same engine as TMF and Maniaplanet, blocks and textures are handled the exact same way in every game, implying texture flickering will also occur in Turbo if two blocks overlap.disposableaccount wrote: yes, overlapping the start with turbo causes texture flickering, why are mentioning this? that was TMF's problem because 2 blocks were placed in the same space through a hack, it's not like Turbo has to be the same way

Why not making countdown fast like in Storm?

Re: Trackmania Turbo has a new release date
i just used the unlimiter double blocks as an example... if that's what PapyChampy was implying he completely missed the point.disposableaccount wrote:acceleracer_01 wrote:As Turbo is running on the exact same engine as TMF and Maniaplanet, blocks and textures are handled the exact same way in every game, implying texture flickering will also occur in Turbo if two blocks overlap.disposableaccount wrote: yes, overlapping the start with turbo causes texture flickering, why are mentioning this? that was TMF's problem because 2 blocks were placed in the same space through a hack, it's not like Turbo has to be the same way
ideally i would prefer multiple start blocks with turbos to get an instant start, like there are multiple turbo pads at different speeds

Re: Trackmania Turbo has a new release date
There are 2 solutions to your problem : Overlapping blocks with mixmap (causing texture flickering, as tools are the same) or adding Turbo behaviour on some other blocks than the regular turbos. It's not in the to do list for now and in my opinion much more useful blocks could be made before this one.
If you want some speed quickly, just place a blue/red boost after the start.
